Byeon Woo Seok is being followed by a crazy fan, invading privacy

HỒNG NHUNG |

Byeon Woo Seok and many Korean artists continuously faced acts of illegal surveillance, access and privacy infringement.

Baro Entertainment on September 19 said that recently they have continuously discovered cases of people coming to locations not belonging to Byeon Woo Seok's public schedule. Some people appeared at film studios, airports, then followed the actor and crew members.

This behavior also affects the privacy of the team working with Byeon Woo Seok. According to the company, some people came to the residence of managers and related employees and waited outside to find out the schedule of the male actor. Unpublished personal information and schedules were also illegally collected and shared.

The company requires fans not to go to unannounced personal schedules, film studios or travel locations. Activities with fan participation will be announced via official channels.

Baro Entertainment said it will collect evidence and take legal measures if the above actions affect Byeon Woo Seok's safety or the crew's operations. In case of recurrence or seriousness, the company can handle it without further warnings.

Over the past time, many Korean artists have also become targets of behaviors of monitoring and approaching outside of schedule.

Cortis members were once tracked by GPS devices. During the group's operation in Paris (France), some people were said to have secretly attached small GPS devices to the group's cars to track routes. They also hired cars and local drivers to access unannounced schedules.

Not only that, Cortis was once approached by a die-hard fan at hotels, airports and on airplanes. Some people voluntarily entered private areas, waited at accommodation or tried to change seats on flights to approach the artist. Bighit Entertainment said they had collected evidence of illegal ticket information trading and carried out legal procedures.

BTS members V and Jungkook also spoke out about being targeted by fans for private space. After a performance, the two members said they met about 20 people at the hotel's gym at around 2 am. They suspected that some people came here mainly to meet them.

Jungkook asked those present to focus on training and respect their private space. Previously, V also asked fans not to come to the hotel where he stayed during the performance.

Consecutive cases show that the boundary between admiration and privacy infringement is increasingly being focused on by management companies. Many units are shifting from warnings to collecting evidence and legal handling when artists are affected.
