Party secret basis
According to the History of the Hai Phong Party Committee, house number 1, lane 42, Me Linh street, An Bien ward, Le Chan district, Hai Phong (now lane 40 Me Linh, Le Chan ward, Hai Phong city) is the secret headquarters of the Vietnam Youth Revolutionary Party Committee of Hai Phong in the years of 1929. - 1929, the secret agency of the Communist East China Party Committee of Hai Phong in the years of 1929 - 1930 is the facility of activities of comrade Nguyen Duc Canh, first Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee.

After attending a political training course organized by Comrade Nguyen Ai Quoc in Guangzhou, in September 1927, Comrade Nguyen Duc Canh returned to work and was appointed Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee of the Vietnam Youth Revolutionary Committee of the Hai Phong Comrade Association. At that time, he chose house number 1/42 Me Linh (in French times it was number 1/42 Metz street, also known as Dong Mon alley) as the headquarters for operations.
Also at the end of 1928, the Vietnam Youth Union Conference of the Northern Youth Revolution set out the policy of " Desertification". In Hai Phong, comrade Nguyen Duc Canh, as a member of the Bac Ky Youth Union - in charge of the Hai Phong - Mo Region, has persistently implemented this policy. House No. 1/42 Me Linh is where he organizes political training classes for Youth Union members, writes vigilance reports for the masses...
In the article "The years when Comrade Nguyen Duc Canh worked in Hai Phong", Dr. Doan Truong Son, Former President of the Hai Phong Historical Science Association, wrote: "The location of the political class is always mobile, but the main facility is the house at 1/42 Metz Street. Comrade Nguyen Duc Canh works tirelessly, has a very heavy job, lives miserably and always has to change his residence, and is hunted by French agents everywhere. When he was at 1/42 Metz Street, sometimes at Ao Than workers' hamlet or Lac Vien village, at Ms. Nguyen Thi Vinh's house on the second floor of the main commercial house (now Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital), close to Hai Phong pepper, taking advantage of the light of De Lao wall to work...".
Document at the Hai Phong Electronic Information Portal, in June 1929, the Indochina Communist Party cell was established. In September 1929, at 1/42 Me Linh, a conference of outstanding communist youth decided to establish the Hai Phong Communist Eastward Organization.
After the conference to merge 3 Communist Party organizations in Vietnam (February 3, 1930), comrade Nguyen Duc Canh, in his position as the Bac Ky Party Committee, returned to strengthen the Hai Phong Party Committee. Thanks to the correct direction of the Central Government, under the direct direction of the Bac Ky Four Party Committees, the Hai Phong Party Committee has launched a vibrant and continuous mass struggle.
Promoting the value of relics
In order to promote the value of house number 1/42 Me Linh - the place that marked a period of secret activities of the Party, on December 12, 1986, the Ministry of Culture (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) issued Decision No. 235-QD/BVHTT, recognizing this place as a National Historical Site. To this day, the architectural imprints of the early 20th century (under the French colonial period) are still preserved and conserved intact. In this house, there are also some relics (reformed) that comrade Nguyen Duc Canh used to use such as: desks, cabinets, wooden beds...
On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2020), the People's Committee of Hai Phong City assigned the Hai Phong Museum (now the Hai Phong Museum and Library) to repair, prevent deterioration and display typical documents, images and artifacts introducing the life and career, great contributions and heroic sacrifices of comrade Nguyen Duc Canh in the leadership of the Vietnamese revolution in general and Hai Phong in particular. In October 2020, Hai Phong Museum officially opened to visitors on the full moon day, the first day of the month and holidays and Tet in the year.
Since then, the house has been a red address, welcoming thousands of visitors to visit and offer incense every year, mainly groups of students, cadres and party members to offer incense to commemorate comrade Nguyen Duc Canh - leader of the Party and the Vietnamese working class as well as learn about the revolutionary history and the first milestones of the Hai Phong City Party Committee.
