At around 5:30 a.m. on August 16, Hanoi time, the Alaska Summit between President Donald Trump and President Vladimir Putin confirmed by the Kremlin had ended.
The closed-door meeting between the two Russian and US leaders lasted about 2 and a half hours.
Russian Ambassador to the US Alexander Darchiev described the atmosphere at the talks between Mr. Putin and Mr. Trump as generally positive, according to Russian state media.
Previously, President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin started the Alaska summit with a warm handshake and greeting each other before entering the discussion.
After stepping down from the Air Force One, President Trump applauded the Russian leader as President Putin approached. The two leaders held hands for a long time, both smiled, and in the end, President Putin pointed to the sky while their hands were still tightly held.
The summit took place at the Elmendorf-Richardson Complex base in Alaska. B-2 and F-22 aircraft - military aircraft used during the Cold War - flew over to mark the start of the summit.
After the greeting moment, Mr. Trump and Putin boarded the US President's limousine together to go to the meeting venue.

After the closed summit ended, President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a press conference at around 6am on August 16, Hanoi time.
This is the first time the US and Russian presidents have appeared at a joint press conference since the 2018 summit in Helsinki, Finland. President Joe Biden and President Putin will not hold a joint press conference when they meet in Geneva, Switzerland in 2021.
