The Vietnam Film Festival will close tonight, November 25. Awards in the feature film category are always the most watched. With the development having breakthroughs in 2025, Vietnamese films are of better quality and have higher revenue.
The competition for film award categories at this year's Vietnam Film Festival has become unpredictable. In particular, the category of Best Supporting Actor in the film industry is witnessing an exciting "match" with a series of quality supporting male roles in works such as Red Rain, Death in the Air...
Here are the supporting male roles that leave a special impression on the box office audience in 2025.
Nguyen Phuong Nam (Red Rain)
The film "Red Rain" of the People's Army Cinema is considered the " film of the year 2025". The film created an unprecedented milestone in the history of Vietnamese film box office with 714 billion VND in revenue.
"Red Rain" caused strong emotions with the audience. One of the biggest successes of Red Rain lies in the realistic acting of the cast. From the male lead Nhat Hoang (as Cuong) to the supporting cast such as Nguyen Phuong Nam (as Ta), Lam Thanh Nha (as Binh), Dinh Khang (as Tu), Steven Nguyen (as Quang)... all received praise from the audience.

Notable among the bright supporting male cast in "Red Rain" is Nguyen Phuong Nam's role as Ta. Director Dang Thai Huyen once revealed that she initially did not plan to choose Phuong Nam.
But after 2 weeks of meeting again, Dang Thai Huyen was impressed when Phuong Nam had invested, made efforts to lose weight, learned local languages... making the director exclaim, "We're here".
Phuong Nam transformed into the role of Ta naturally, realistically and emotionally. The role of Ta is considered the most memorable role in Red Rain.
Thai Hoa (In air combat)
Death in the air is similar to Red Rain in one point, the film has a supporting cast with quality acting ability, making a strong impression on the audience.

Thai Hoa plays Long, a private pilot on the counter-offensive line who plans to rob the plane. Long was invested by Thai Hoa from appearance to acting, and the way he emphasized his lines. The dragon is fierce and cruel, despite all brutal tricks. The role of Long is the next impressive transformation that "million-dollar actress" Thai Hoa has had in her career.
Loi Tran and Bao Dinh (Aer War)
Along with Thai Hoa, the villains in "The War in the Air" such as Loi Tran and Bao Dinh all showed their ability, sophisticated acting, and were admired by colleagues and audiences.
In particular, Bao Dinh (as Sau, son of the character Long) was praised by the entire cast of " Tuong Nam Aiao" from Thanh Son, Kaity Nguyen, Thai Hoa... and shared their strong impression of Bao Dinh's transformation.

Bao Dinh deserves a place in the list of nominees for Best Supporting Actor in the category of a documentary at this year's Vietnam Film Festival.
Quang Tuan (geology: Sun in the dark)
The role of Tu Dap in the film "Tunnel: Sun in the dark" is also Quang Tuan's new mark. He lost up to 17kg to play Tu Dap. Tu Dap is not a member of the tour squad of Bay Theo (Thai Hoa), but plays an important role in "Tunnel: Sun in the dark".

Quang Tuan's role was built by director Bui Thac Chuyen from a real character. Quang Tuan said that he has made great efforts to make real historical figures more vivid and approachable on screen.
Thai Hoa commented that Quang Tuan made him very impressed when working with him.
