The beyond The Crown project at Miss Universe 2025 is becoming the focus of attention of Vietnamese audiences after the Vietnamese representative - Huong Giang did not win the award even though she previously continuously topped the voting rankings on the official application.
For many days, the domestic fan community and famous artists such as Hoa Minzy, Ha Ho, Lam Khanh Chi... have called for votes, helping Huong Giang maintain a high ranking. Of which, Hoa Minzy contributed 50,000 votes to Huong Giang.
According to data taken from the Miss Universe application, Huong Giang was once in the Top 3, even surpassing many other contestants in terms of voting.
However, at the announcement night, the Top 3 position of this category was awarded to three other representatives, including a contestant from the Netherlands, who only had about 451 votes, much lower than the number of more than 233,000 votes of Huong Giang. The huge difference has caused a stir in the online community, questioning the scoring method and transparency of the award.
The Miss Universe Organizing Committee later explained that 50% of the results come from the voting, and 50% from the professional judges, so the final result may be different from the ranking displayed on the app. However, this explanation still does not extinguish the controversy, because the audience thinks that the way of announcement and the display system are not clear, easily causing misunderstanding that the person with the highest number of votes will be in the top.
Before the wave of debate, Huong Giang officially spoke up. On her personal page, she shared: Behind The Crown, I have proven and will continue to prove myself through my actions, not any title or award.
Her concise but strong statement showed that Huong Giang remained calm in the face of the controversial results. Instead of reacting strongly, she affirmed that personal value does not lie in awards but in the journey and practical contributions.
Many international and domestic fans expressed regret that Huong Giang's community project is highly appreciated for its practicality, investment and spreading ability. A part of Vietnamese audiences believe that with her efforts to perform throughout the journey, Huong Giang deserves to be in the Top 3 beyond The Crown.
Although the controversy continued, the outcome was decided. However, Huong Giang's positive reaction and calmness partly helped reduce stress. For many audiences, the important thing is not the award, but the image of a persistent, brave Vietnamese representative who is always ready to face all challenges in the international arena.
