The Fatherland Flies Over in the Spring
The 23rd Vietnam Poetry Day was held at Pham Thi Tran Theater (Hoa Lu City, Ninh Binh) with the theme "Fatherland Flies". Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, drove the drum to open the 23rd Vietnam Poetry Day.
Poet Nguyen Quang Thieu - Chairman of the Vietnam Writers' Association - said that the theme of this year's Poetry Day is inspired by the poem "Fatherland Flies Up to the Bowl in Spring" in the work "Vietnamese Standing Image" by poet Le Anh Xuan.
Speaking at the 23rd Vietnam Poetry Day, poet Nguyen Quang Thieu - Chairman of the Vietnam Writers' Association affirmed: Today we choose this land of history, culture, and majestic nature to organize the 23rd Poetry Day and together send a message of peace, beauty, the nation's true desire to live and the will to act for that desire to live.
"We chose the spirit of the poem by poet Le Anh Xuan to express our respect and gratitude to all the children in the beloved land of Vietnam who have devoted their lives to the independence, freedom and reunification of the country" - poet Nguyen Quang Thieu emphasized.
Impressed by the poem of an American veteran
The poetry night took place with the performance of special poetic performances such as: Nguyen Tieu by President Ho Chi Minh, Duc Thuy Son by Truong Han Sieu, Dang Chung Viet Nam by Le Anh Xuan, We fight for those who live forever in Vietnam by Nam Ha.
The poetry night also has a performance of reading poems by poets: Nguyen Dinh Thi, Nguyen Khoa Diem, Huu Thinh, Le Thu, Tran Dang Khoa, Phan Hoang, Nguyen Viet Chien... and poets who have matured after the renovation are making an impression on the instrument such as: Nguyen Bao Chan, Nguyen Tien Thanh, Nguyen Quang Hung, Phung Thi Huong Ly... through the reading voice of poets and artists. In particular, this year's Poetry Day marks the performance of veteran American poet Bruce Weigl with the poem " poem for mother Nguyen Thi Ve" presented in bilingual. Poet Bruce Weigl said that Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ve was his Vietnamese mother, and he wrote this poem to her from the emotions of his trips back to Vietnam.
The diversity of poems and the unique performances of emotional readers such as People's Artist Mai Thuy, Meritorious Artist Ba Toan, Artist Thanh Tuyen, poet Tran Kim Hoa... bring many emotions to the public who love art.
Mixed between the reading of poems is the performance of famous songs that are set to music from poems such as: "The way we go" (Xuan Sach poem, Huy Du poem), "The Fatherland calls my name" (Nguyen Phan Que Mai poem, Dinh Trung Can poem).
Attending the Vietnam Poetry Day, Chairman of Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee Pham Quang Ngoc shared: "Ninh Binh Province hopes to continue to receive the attention, leadership and direction of Party and State leaders, leaders of central ministries, branches and organizations, the joint efforts and consensus of artists and intellectuals nationwide, especially writers and poets across the country so that Ninh Binh can successfully achieve its set goals, soon put Ninh Binh on the list of creative cities of UNESCO and the poetic mountain Duc Thuy Son - Non Nuoc will soon become a world documentary heritage".
