With love for the profession, love for Cai Luong, love for the stage and the plays... more than 1,000 artists and actors from all over the provinces and cities have come to Tay Do land to compete at the 2024 National Cai Luong Festival.
In particular, many units and art troupes have spent huge amounts of money to invest in plays, costumes, props, etc. with the expectation of winning many medals and winning the hearts of audiences at the largest cai luong playground in the country.
Sharing with Lao Dong, Mr. Hong Quoc Khanh - Director of Tay Do Theater, Can Tho City - said that the troupe has been very well prepared since the end of 2023, especially ordering the author to write a new cai luong script about the cultural celebrity of Can Tho, the late composer Moc Quan Nguyen Trong Quyen - who founded the first theater troupe in the South, who also brought the song "Da co hoai lang" by the late musician Cao Van Lau to the cai luong stage and many other recognitions.
Mr. Khanh shared that the troupe invested about 1 billion VND, from the script to the staging, costumes, etc. to complete the more than 2-hour long Cai Luong play to compete in this year's National Cai Luong Festival.
"We hope to be in the top, winning many individual gold medals and team gold medals, to match the investment as well as the role of the host unit," Mr. Khanh expected.
Meritorious Artist Le Tu (Group 2, Tran Huu Trang Opera House, Ho Chi Minh City) excitedly said that the troupe's operas were all invested in very carefully, and the artists and actors were enthusiastic and worked wholeheartedly for the unit's flag and colors. This time, Meritorious Artist Le Tu participated in 2 main roles in 2 operas.
“Participating in a performance, whether it is a big or small role, is the happiness of an artist. This is an opportunity for us to look back on the journey we have gone through, and at the same time to rub shoulders, learn, and absorb new and good things from directors, authors, and actors,” Meritorious Artist Le Tu commented.
Sharing about the medals, Meritorious Artist Le Tu said that for each national professional competition, a medal is a great honor for an artist. In particular, the criteria for conferring the title of People's Artist and Meritorious Artist are also calculated from these medals.
Therefore, artists also try to achieve medals, and have to dedicate themselves to their profession for 10 years, 15 years or more to be recognized as People's Artist or Meritorious Artist.
According to the Organizing Committee, the National Cai Luong Festival is a meaningful activity, held periodically every 3 years. This year, the Festival has the participation of more than 1,000 artists and actors from 29 units and art troupes, bringing more than 30 Cai Luong plays, taking place from the evening of October 25 to November 15 in Can Tho City.
