On February 19 (the 3rd day of Tet), the international cruise ship Adora Mediterranea docked at Chan May Port, opening the 2026 cruise tourist season in Hue City and being the first international cruise ship to arrive in the Central region at the beginning of the year.
The ship departed from Guangzhou (China), carrying 2,613 tourists and 732 crew members. As soon as the ship docked, functional forces and travel businesses coordinated to carry out entry procedures, quickly coordinate passengers, and ensure security and safety.
During the day, many groups of tourists chose tours to visit heritage, cuisine and craft villages in Hue and the Central region. According to representatives of travel agencies, about 30% of tourists visit relic sites in Hue, and the remaining 70% experience tourism in Da Nang.
According to statistics, in 2025, Chan May Port welcomed 46 ships with 131,515 passengers and crew members. In 2026, it is expected to welcome about 88 ships, equivalent to 260,000 passengers and crew members.
Mr. Le Chi Phai - Deputy General Director of Chan May Port said that the increase in the number of international ships shows the attractiveness of the Central region destination on the regional cruise tourism map. This is a segment of customers with high spending, contributing to promoting local services, transportation and trade.
Mr. Ly Duc Nam - Director of Khang Huy Holiday Vietnam Tourism Co., Ltd. - said that 5-star cruise passengers have spending levels 2-3 times higher than many other types of tourism, creating growth momentum for the tourism industry right from the beginning of the year.
