Ho Chi Minh City tourism aims for 8.5 million international visitors by 2025

Thanh Chân |

In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City's tourism industry aims to welcome about 8.5 million international visitors and 45 million domestic tourists, with estimated total tourism revenue reaching VND260,000 billion.

From the positive results of 2024 with the total number of visitors and tourism revenue of Ho Chi Minh City reaching 100% of the plan, the Ho Chi Minh City tourism industry sets a target of welcoming about 8.5 million international visitors (an increase of more than 40%), 45 million domestic tourists in 2025, with an estimated total tourism revenue of VND 260,000 billion (an increase of 37%). The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism believes that 2025 is a period of efforts to create breakthroughs with new tourism products, professional services, attractive events, close connections and creative promotion strategies.

Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper about the development potential of Ho Chi Minh City tourism in the new year 2025, Mr. Pham Anh Vu - Deputy General Director of Viet Tourism Company - assessed that last year, the city's tourism industry had many positive highlights such as well-organized promotional tourism events, many new products that attracted a large number of tourists' interest and experience, and existing tourism infrastructure that attracted high-paying tourists such as MICE... From there, it created motivation for travel businesses to do tourism business.

However, in the coming time, the level of competition with other destinations in the Southeast Asian region requires Ho Chi Minh City to continuously innovate, improve service quality and improve infrastructure, transportation and utilities to meet the increasing number of tourists.

"The Ho Chi Minh City tourism industry needs to promote and develop new types of tourism such as night tourism, river tourism and cultural tourism to increase competitiveness and meet tourists' needs," said Mr. Anh Vu.

In addition, promote the trend of digital transformation and apply technology such as maps... to tourism products. Improve the quality of human resource training in the tourism industry to ensure professional and friendly service provision, targeting new markets.

According to Ms. Tran Thi Bao Thu - Marketing and Communications Director of Vietluxtour Company, in 2025, in coordination with the tourism development strategy of Ho Chi Minh City, in the role of an enterprise, the unit will also contribute to the plan to increase marketing, increase the number of visitors and revenue, and profit in the markets with the goal of increasing by 30% compared to the same period in 2024, especially in the international market.

"To achieve these goals, in addition to the destination's general tourism economic development strategy, two factors that need to be focused on are product planning and marketing," Ms. Bao Thu assessed.

Because of unique products, key promotion strategies, focusing on the right target market will bring better results. With the goal of 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism will research and advise the city to develop policies to encourage and mobilize resources for tourism development, build mechanisms and policies to develop tourism human resources. At the same time, build a project to manage and develop a sharing economic model in the field of tourist accommodation in the city, a project to develop medical tourism from now until 2030, with a vision to 2045 and promote digital transformation.
