Primary forests - a great advantage for tourism development
Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee has approved the Project on developing ecotourism in Kon Ka Kinh National Park and Kon Chu Rang Nature Reserve.
These are two areas with high forest cover, a rich ecosystem and have been strictly protected for many years.
According to the Kon Chu Rang Nature Reserve Management Board, for many years, thousands of tourists have visited K50 waterfall, explored the forest ecosystem and experienced tourism activities associated with nature.
Not only attractive by its landscape, this conservation area recently also recorded an additional population of mountain-to-land kim giao trees including 4 large individuals. This is a rare plant species listed in the Vietnam Red Book, at risk of extinction and distributed in the core area of the Kon Ha Nung Plateau World Biosphere Reserve.
Meanwhile, Kon Ka Kinh National Park has an area of nearly 42,000ha, more than 93% is natural forest. This area possesses a diverse primary forest ecosystem with many rare animal and plant species and typical landscapes of the Central Highlands. In 2003, Kon Ka Kinh was recognized as an ASEAN Heritage Park and is one of the two core areas of the Kon Ha Nung World Biosphere Reserve.
Strictly manage timber recovery, prevent forest encroachment
In July 2026, Mr. Nguyen Van Hoan - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Gia Lai province - said that the Department has requested Krong Pa Forestry One Member Limited Liability Company to supplement complete documents and clarify the contents related to the plan to exploit and salvage fallen forest trees.
According to the enterprise's report, among the fallen trees, there are 17 giáng hương and cà te trees, both precious wood species, of high economic value and belonging to the long-term forest complex managed by the unit.
In the Kbang area, through counting, there are more than 400 ancient giáng hương trees, many trees have large diameters, requiring 4-5 people to hug them all. This has long been the target of forest destroyers because of its very high economic value.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hoan said that in order to ensure that the recovery of 17 precious trees is in accordance with regulations and in accordance with the actual situation, the department requests Krong Pa Forestry Company to preside over and coordinate with the Kbang Regional Forest Protection Department, Krong Commune People's Committee and relevant agencies to closely monitor the entire exploitation process.
In particular, functional agencies must strengthen inspection and supervision, absolutely not allowing subjects to take advantage of the plan to salvage fallen trees to illegally exploit and transport forest products, effectively protect forest resources, and develop sustainable tourism.
