On September 19, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee made a submission requesting policy approval to submit to the Provincial People's Council the draft Resolution on policies to support and attract international tourists through non-scheduled international flights to Phu Cat Airport, phase 2026-2027.
According to the draft resolution, the province will use state budget funds to support international travel service businesses in the province, businesses bringing international tourists, and international investors on flights to Phu Cat Airport.
In which, Gia Lai province will support free propaganda and promotion of tourism products that businesses are exploiting on mass media.
The province supports 200 million VND/ charter flight (hired flight) to Phu Cat Airport. The province also supports a 50% reduction in entrance fees/ticket prices for international travel businesses organizing to bring international tourist groups to locations such as: Center for Scientific Discovery and Innovation, Twin Towers, Banh It Tower.
The total funding needs to implement the policy of supporting tourist attraction in the 2026-2027 period are expected to be: 94 billion 947 million VND.

According to Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, the implementation of this new mechanism and policy is unprecedented, based on the spirit of Resolution 26 of the Politburo on developing Vietnamese tourism into a key economic sector.
In which, regulations on mechanisms to support promotion of opening new air routes, developing new destinations and new products are piloted for urgent issues to create breakthroughs for tourism development.
At the same time, the policy is also based on Resolution 98 of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Council on the Provincial Tourism Development Project, which stipulates focusing on attracting the key international tourism market of the region; focusing on markets with high affordability and long-term accommodation; strengthening the exploitation of tourists coming to the province by charter flights ( charter flights).
In the context that Phu Cat Airport has been invested in completing runway No. 2, creating conditions to receive airlines and open direct international routes.
Meanwhile, international visitors to Gia Lai province currently account for a low proportion. In 2025, the province only reached 125,000 international visitors, accounting for 1% of the total 12,4 million visitors.
While the trend of international visitors is increasingly prioritizing safe, affordable, convenient and connected destinations, especially direct flights.
Therefore, the formation and policy of supporting international charter flights is important in expanding the market, attracting tourists, increasing spending capacity, promoting destinations and promoting regional linkages.
