There are music genres that were once only popular in the South such as Trinh Cong Son music, now becoming an indispensable part of the spiritual life of people across the country. Songs like " Noi tay dai" have truly become a call for solidarity and harmony.
There are dishes such as pho, although there are many variations according to regional flavors (pho Bac thanh thanh dam, pho Nam ham), or banh mi with countless versions (banh mi Saigon nhan gia sang, banh mi que Hai Phong)... but there are still basic things in common, becoming the pride of Vietnamese cuisine in the international arena. And even the differences in language and wording such as "no" (South) and "wards" (North), "left" (South) and "fa" (North) are gradually becoming familiar and interesting, enriching Vietnamese.
In the early years of the unification, differences in thinking and lifestyle between the two regions caused many obstacles. The story of Northern officials who first went to the South to work, surprised by the bustling of markets like Ben Thanh, or the way people communicate openly and openly is a typical example.
Or vice versa, many people from the South to the North may not be used to cold weather or a somewhat slower pace of life in Hanoi. But then everything became harmonious because of the sincerity and cohesion of "connecting a big bracelet" to "hold a round of Vietnam with our hands" as the song lyrics of musician Trinh Cong Son. Unity is not only on the map, on the geographical border but also in the heart, in sharing and understanding each other.
Today, the young generation of Vietnam grows up in a peaceful country, where they are free to explore diverse cultural identities. Hue Festivals gather cultural quintessence from all over, historical museums such as the War Relics Museum in Ho Chi Minh City attract many young people to learn about the past, or trips across Vietnam by motorbike to become meaningful experiences to explore the beauty of the country and people.
50 years is not a long journey compared to the history of the nation, but enough for Vietnam to write a story about the power of reunion. From the scars of war, the country has risen to become a dynamic country with a developing economy and an increasingly important role in the international arena.
April 30, 2025 not only celebrates a historic milestone, but is also a source of pride in a cultural journey - the journey of unity and love, where traditional and modern values blend together, creating a unique and vibrant Vietnam.
