On the evening of January 15, the 2nd Green Wave Awards Ceremony took place at Nguyen Du Stadium (District 1, HCMC).
Rapper HIEUTHUHAI became the first artist to win both Favorite Male Singer/Rapper and Male Singer/Rapper of the Year. Son Tung M-TP was also in both categories.
When receiving the award for Most Favorite Male Singer/Rapper, HIEUTHUHAI expressed his appreciation for the fact that the Blue Wave Music Awards added the rapper profession to the categories honoring artists for the first time.
"This means a lot to me and other rappers on their journey," he said.
The male rapper overwhelmingly won the Male Singer/Rapper of the Year category with 44.2% of the votes from the nearly 250-member panel, even though this year the category had 6 nominees including Son Tung M-TP.
Duong Domic was the Best New Face. Quang Hung MasterD also won two awards: Breakthrough Singer (an impressive 53.6% vote share) and Top 10 Favorite Songs.
Meanwhile, going on a separate path, Phan Manh Quynh still won two trophies thanks to "Sau loi tu xu". The song won the Top 10 favorite songs and Favorite song on radio.
The performance "Drum Rice" and the talented artists attracted attention when they swept all categories. The performance "Drum Rice" won the Outstanding Collaboration award, and the producer duo Kriss Ngo and Touliver won the Sound Mixing award.
SlimV - the music producer of Call Me by Fire - was named Music Producer of the Year with 67.4% of the votes. Brother Soobin was named in the Album of the Year category.
The results of some categories are not difficult to predict: Song of the year belongs to Son Tung M-TP with the song "Dung lam trai tim anh dau"; tlinh won Female Singer/Rapper of the year; Thieu Bao Tram is the most favorite Female Singer/Rapper; Phenomenal song is awarded to "Di giu troi ruc ro" by Ngo Lan Huong and MV of the year belongs to "Khong ra gi" by Truc Nhan - Dinh Ha Uyen Thu.
This year's special award is Program of the Year, given to two contests "Anh trai say hi" and "Call Me by Fire".
The Achievement Award honored two veteran musicians Duong Thu and Bao Chan for their great contributions to Vietnamese music as previously reported.
