The main goal of this restoration is not to completely renew the national treasure "Ngai Vuong Tuong Quoc Nguyen", but to restore the throne to the most recent state as in 2015 - when the scientific dossier was built to recognize the artifact as a National Treasure.
In particular, the restoration of national treasures "Children of the Nguyen Dynasty" must ensure compliance with the principle of museology, based on scientific and historical documents; use appropriate measures, techniques and technologies to preserve the original elements; restore details according to the original before the artifact is damaged, do not create additional patterns and motifs, do not renew artifacts, keep original traces if they do not affect the structure; use materials compatible with the original materials; prioritize the reuse of techniques and materials that have been used in the processing of artifacts.
The restoration of national treasures "Children of the Nguyen Dynasty" must comply with the process, principles, and techniques of preservation and restoration and be consistent with relevant customs, practices, and beliefs and be carried out by people with qualifications, skills, and experience, and agencies and organizations with appropriate functions and tasks.
After recovery, the artifact must be guaranteed to have eliminated all causes of damage, increased solidity and durability; ensure safety, keep the shape, size and aesthetics intact. The restoration of artifacts is only carried out when the implementation solutions are approved by competent authorities.
The expected restoration process includes 9 steps: Preparing the site for restoring artifacts, moving treasures, scientific hygiene: Cleaning artifacts and debris, Repositioning debris into a block, Complete repositioning artifacts, Stabilizing the layer of paint and gilded foam, Restoring the layer of foam paint, Protection Shelter and Organizing acceptance.
After restoration, the national treasure "Ngai Vuong Tuong Tuong Quoc" will be displayed at the old location at Thai Hoa Palace. The conservation plan of the treasure will be implemented according to relevant national standards (TCVN 13568:2022 - Array storage - Requirements; TCVN 14167:2024 - Cultural heritage conservation - Instructions and procedures for choosing suitable lighting for indoor display).
The People's Committee of Hue City assigned the Department of Culture and Sports to review and evaluate the content of the National Treasure Restoration Plan "Ngai Vuong Tuong Tuong Nguyen" to submit to the City People's Committee for promulgation according to the guidance of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism according to regulations; Advising the City People's Committee to establish a professional Council to supervise the process of restoring national treasures "Ngai Vuong Tuong Nguyen".
The Hue Monuments Conservation Center is responsible for regularly monitoring and reporting to the City People's Committee, the Professional Council, and supervising the restoration of National Treasures during the "Golden Dynasty Government" period; reporting (istatus file, technical design, technical measures, construction log, construction documents, analysis photos, front/back photos, videos recording the entire construction process, appraisal results, acceptance reports) after completing the Plan.
The Hue Royal Antiquities Museum directly monitors, supervises, and coordinates with consulting units to develop technical designs and plans to restore national treasures of the Nguyen Dynasty royal court to absorb and supplement arising issues during the process of restoring the Nguyen Dynasty royal court to submit to all levels for appraisal and approval.
