On May 7, Mr. Pham Van Nghiem - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - chaired a meeting of the Provincial People's Committee to listen to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism report on the draft plan to organize activities to celebrate the 300th birthday of Cultural Figure Le Quy Don (1726 - 2026).
According to the draft plan, commemorative activities will be organized on a large scale, solemnly, and meaningfully, associated with propagating the tradition of studiousness, honoring the life, career and contributions of Cultural Figure Le Quy Don to science and national culture; and at the same time promoting the image, people and development potential of Hung Yen province.
Activities are expected to take place throughout 2026, peaking in July and August 2026.
Many key activities are proposed such as: incense offering ceremony, flower offering ceremony to commemorate; national-level anniversary; international scientific conference; art political program; display, exhibition, introduction of books and documents; contest to learn about the life and career of Cultural Figure Le Quy Don; documentary film production; organizing extracurricular activities in schools; launching the Le Quy Don Award in the field of science and technology; staging a Cheo play about Cultural Figure Le Quy Don.
At the meeting, delegates focused on discussing the content, scale, and time of organizing activities; coordination with central ministries and branches; propaganda and promotion plans; ensuring security and order, facilities; progress of repairing and restoring the Le Quy Don Cultural Figure Memorial Area and related relics.
Concluding the meeting, Mr. Pham Van Nghiem emphasized that organizing activities to celebrate the 300th birthday of Cultural Figure Le Quy Don is an important political and cultural task of the province in 2026.
He also requested departments, branches, and localities to accelerate the progress of restoration and embellishment of relics; embellish the landscape and environmental sanitation in Le Quy Don commune; proactively coordinate propaganda on newspapers and digital platforms to spread the heritage values associated with Cultural Figure Le Quy Don.
