Episode 10 of Tinh Ha Say Hi witnessed the competition of 20 artists at Livestage 4. This is an important round when the program eliminates 5 more people to determine the lineup to advance to the final stage.
In this round, 20 artists are divided into 5 teams, each team combined with an international producer including FrancisGotHeat, Dylan Matthew, Softserveboy, Softest Hard and Danny Chung.
The appearance of international producers made the music making process change a lot. Some teams only had 3 days left to redo the demo, while Wren Evans' team went through 182 song edits.
The five teams respectively performed "Vượt ngưỡng tình yêu", "Perfume", "5 tháng", "Giải cứu thế giới" and "Laviem", spanning many genres from pop-alternative, pop funk, acoustic to tech house, EDM, jerk and J-pop.
Notably, the "5 months" process of Wren Evans, Wean, Ali Hoang Duong and Jaysonlei lasted with 182 edits. Wren Evans said that there were days when the group worked from 3 pm to 1 am but still could not find a version that satisfied him.
Perfectionism makes the production process a race of time and effort. On stage, the group chooses a restrained way of performing with acoustic material, different from many dance performances in the competition round.
In the Jsol team, Son. K, Hyo and Ivan, disagreements also occurred during the "Save the World" process. Jsol and Son. K argue about creative directions, making the atmosphere in the group tense.
Hyo revealed that this was the first time at Livestage 4 he witnessed two seniors bursting into tears. After the argument, Jsol and Son. K actively hugged each other to make peace to continue completing the product.
The group chose to bring the familiar line "Nguoi oi nguoi o dung ve" into the tech house, EDM background. Jsol explained: "World music cannot lack Vietnam. Before we reach out internationally, we must start from our homeland".
Meanwhile, Quang Hung MasterD, Phap Kieu, CoolKid and Captain Boy collaborated with Danny Chung to perform "Laviem". This is also the performance that brought the jerk genre to appear for the first time at Tinh Ha say hi.
The stage was built like a "love trial", with the participation of Uyen An. After the performance, Tran Thanh commented that Quang Hung MasterD had partly proven himself to be a "solid musician".
The male MC also assessed Wren Evans, Quang Hung MasterD, Duong Domic and Kimlong as artists with clear musical colors according to his observation at the program.
Livestage 4 results, "Laviem" of Quang Hung MasterD team won first place. "Vượt ngưỡng tình yêu" of Hurrykng team ranked second, followed by "Perfume" of Congb team. "Giải cứu thế giới" of Jsol team and "5 tháng" of Wren Evans ranked fourth and fifth respectively.
The atmosphere changed when the program entered the qualifying round. Jsol and Hyo were the first two artists to stop. Ivan then also did not win the right to continue.
One of the most emotional breakups belonged to Ali Hoang Duong. When the name of his senior was announced to have to leave the program, Wren Evans burst into tears and hugged Ali Hoang Duong. Hurrykng also admitted that the deeper he went, the more "ruthless" it became to have to break up with friends. Kimlong was the last name to stop playing.
Thus, Jsol, Hyo, Ivan, Ali Hoang Duong and Kimlong are the 5 artists eliminated right before the final stage. Meanwhile, Quang Hung MasterD and the "Laviem" team led Livestage 4 of Tinh Ha Say Hi.
