Beauty queens dominate the box office
The 2025 Tet film race has become hotter than ever when the producer officially announced the cast. Of which, 2/3 of the expected films have announced important roles belonging to famous beauty queens such as Miss Doan Thien An playing the female lead role in the film "Nu hon bac bi" by director Thu Trang; Miss Tieu Vy playing the female lead role in "Bo tu bao thu" by director Tran Thanh. In addition, "Bo tu bao thu" also has the participation of Miss Ky Duyen - a name that covers social networks in 2024.
Tran Thanh’s invitation of two beauty queens to act in a film has caused much controversy because both Miss Tieu Vy and Miss Ky Duyen have made many people skeptical about their acting abilities. Miss Tieu Vy has ventured into the film industry but has not made much of an impression because her expressions are not really flexible, her dialogue is stiff and unnatural. Meanwhile, the role in “The Four Guardians” is Miss Ky Duyen’s debut role in the film industry. Previously, Ky Duyen was also a beauty queen who was judged to have unnatural expressions.
Talking about choosing Miss Tieu Vy, Tran Thanh affirmed: "Tieu Vy is a very bold decision. If I choose this girl, I will have a lot of work to do."
Miss Thien An is also a surprising name when she continuously appears in famous movies alongside long-time actors. She debuted in the film industry with the role of Bay Loan in the movie "Cong Tu Bac Lieu". Only appearing in a few scenes, Thien An somewhat impressed with her good interactions with actor Song Luan. Although it was her first year in acting, Thien An continued to receive the trust of director Thu Trang for the female lead role in "Nu hon bac billion".
Recently, Miss Thuy Tien's name was once again noticed when she had her first role in "Linh Mieu: Quy nhap trang". Talking about the reason for choosing the Miss for the role of a servant, director Vo Thanh Hoa affirmed that to get the role, Thuy Tien also had to go through the casting rounds (audition) as usual but according to the special regime for famous people, to maintain her image and information.
“Thuy Tien is a dedicated person to her work, very dedicated. She studied to become an actress, had to go to castings for many different projects, had many acting invitations but she still wanted to choose the role that best suited her. When working, one must be serious, Tien meets that requirement” - director Vo Thanh Hoa said.
Efforts to escape the label of "beauty queen in movies"
Up to now, beauty queens have always been compared to "mobile flower vases" by many people, so there are many prejudices about beauty queens acting in movies.
Admitting that her first role will have shortcomings, Miss Thuy Tien said she is ready to accept the audience's comments. "Different opinions will always exist. If I were the audience, I might think the same. But thanks to that, I have more motivation to prove myself" - Thuy Tien said.
Before officially accepting to participate in a film project, Miss Thuy Tien, Thien An, Tieu Vy and Ky Duyen all spent time studying to learn acting seriously and systematically. Miss Ky Duyen revealed that she had to audition twice to get the role in “The Four Guardians”.
“Cinema has always been my great passion and I always want to devote all my heart and soul to this passion,” said Miss Ky Duyen, affirming that she put a lot of heart, effort and investment into this role.
Miss H’Hen Nie once tried her hand at acting in the action movie “578”. Although the revenue was not as expected, she still left her mark when she threw herself into her new role. “I don’t discriminate between beauty queens or any profession when acting in movies. When participating in a project, the biggest pressure is to portray the character and the director’s intentions correctly. This is the effort of the entire film crew, if I don’t do well, it will affect everyone. From the first time I acted in a movie, I have learned a lot of experience and know what I need to improve” - H’Hen Nie shared.
