New houses after the storm and flood
Half a month after the storm, Mr. Doan Van Ky's family in village 3, Hoa Cuong commune, Tran Yen district completed leveling the ground with an area of over 100 square meters to dig the foundation to build a new house on the foundation that collapsed during the flood.
The estimated cost to build the house is about 350 million VND, part of which is supported by the state, the rest comes from the family's savings, community support and philanthropists.
Up to now, the 100 m2 ground-floor house is gradually taking shape, and it is expected that Mr. Ky's family can move in before Tet.
The prolonged heavy rain and floods caused by storm No. 3 also caused thousands of cubic meters of rock and soil on the high hill to collapse and completely bury the level 4 house and many properties of Mr. Dao Van Duong's family, a resident in Khe Rong village, An Binh commune, Van Yen district.
"Up to now, thanks to the support of the province, district and local authorities, my family has rebuilt our house in a new, safer area. This is a great motivation to help my family overcome difficulties and stabilize our lives," said Mr. Duong.
In At Thuong village, Minh Xuan commune, Luc Yen district (where the landslide took the lives of 9 people), the scene of devastation has been replaced by a bustling atmosphere at the reconstruction site. 35 Tay households who had to be urgently evacuated due to the landslide are receiving support from the Military Region 2 Command to build new houses to soon stabilize their lives.
Mr. Hoang Van Que, Head of At Thuong Village, said that thanks to the encouragement and help of the government and benefactors, the villagers have gradually overcome their pain and loss. It is expected that before Tet, the resettlement area will be completed so that people can draw lots and move to new homes.
Allowing land conversion for housing after natural disasters
On December 25, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper, Yen Bai Provincial Party Secretary Tran Huy Tuan said that in order to support agricultural production losses due to the impact of storm No. 3, helping people to soon restore production and stabilize their lives, the Yen Bai Provincial People's Council approved a list of projects, households and individuals who need to convert the purpose of using rice fields and production forest land to other purposes for 11 resettlement projects for people with an area of over 13 hectares; at the same time, allowing 209 households to convert 2.37 hectares of rice fields and 3.78 hectares of production forest land to residential land to build houses after natural disasters.
In addition, Yen Bai also mobilized and combined resources to overcome the consequences. To date, the province has allocated over 300 billion VND to localities and units; urgently evacuated 21,223 households from dangerous areas. Yen Bai also focused on human resources to complete nearly 500 houses, start construction on nearly 800 houses... with a budget of nearly 98 billion VND.
“After 3 months of efforts to overcome the consequences of natural disasters, the lives of people in the affected areas have returned to normal. Yen Bai expects that 100% of households whose houses were damaged will have new houses before the Lunar New Year,” said Mr. Tran Huy Tuan.
