In October, 12 new Korean dramas will be released to the audience. Soompi reviews that movie fans will enjoy a true “party” with a full range of topics from action, romantic comedy to psychological thriller.
Notable among them are Lee Joon Hyuk's "Dongjae, The Good or the Bastard", Han Suk Kyu's "Doubt", and Kim Tae Ri's "Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born".
Dongjae, The Good or the Bastard
As a spin-off of “Forest of Secrets”, “Dongjae, The Good or the Bastard” revolves around the challenges of Seo Dong Jae (Lee Joon Hyuk) - a prosecutor at the Cheongju District Prosecutors' Office (South Korea).
He is currently struggling with his tarnished reputation and confronts Nam Wan Sung (Park Sung Woong) - CEO of Lee Hong Construction.

As an actor highly regarded for his acting, Lee Joon Hyuk is expected to maintain his form, helping the viewership on Tving achieve high results.
The actor himself also commented that Seo Dong Jae is such a special and unique character that the more he explores it, the more interesting he finds it. “I never thought I would return to this role, but I gave it my all once again.”
“Dongjae, The Good or the Bastard” is scheduled to air on October 10.
Doubt (Intimate Traitor)
Belonging to the psychological thriller genre, “Doubt” tells the story of the dilemma that Jang Tae Soo (Han Suk Kyu) - Korea's top criminal police officer - faces when he suddenly discovers the secret of his daughter Jang Ha Bin (Chae Won Bin) related to a murder case he is investigating.
As the project marks Han Suk Kyu's return after the movie "Dr. Romantic 3", and is also the actor's first drama on MBC in 30 years, he expressed his excitement.

“I was lucky to find this story, which is what the role really wanted to try. “Doubt” is a film that really made me think and struggle, not only as an actor but also as a father.
The author has done a great job of telling the story of a family caught between trust and doubt in a dramatic way that suits the genre. I don't think there is anything sadder and more painful than doubting the family closest to you. Even with your own children, you can't know everything about them," he said.
“Doubt” is scheduled to air on the evening of October 11.
Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born (The Star Is Born)
Set in the 1950s, “Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born” follows Jeong Nyeon (Kim Tae Ri), a young vocal prodigy who dreams of becoming a top traditional theater actress.
The drama explores Jeong Nyeon's journey through competition, teamwork, and self-development amidst the poverty and romance of the times.
Even though before its premiere, the film was involved in a legal dispute between MBC (the old producer) and the current production companies, “Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born” was still one of the most anticipated works by audiences in October, with 8.8% of the votes, according to Soompi.

The main reason for the anticipation comes from the transformation of the female lead Kim Tae Ri. The actress said that to play the role of Jeong Nyeon, she focused on practicing her voice for about 3 years (from April 2021 to June 2024) and continuously honed her singing, dancing, dialect (local language), and traditional opera skills until the filming process was completed.
According to the 9X star, thanks to Jeong Nyeon, she has truly matured. She hopes that viewers will see many different aspects of the character through this transformation.
“Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born” will air from the evening of October 12, following the broadcast time of the movie “Mother's Friend's Son”.
