The reason why the actress of the movie with a revenue of 1.9 billion RMB did not step into the entertainment industry

Amateur actress Vuong Hieu Hue decided not to join the entertainment industry even though her debut film was a resounding success.

As of June 27, the Chinese movie "Love Letter to Grandma" (English title: "Dear you") has surpassed the revenue milestone of 1.9 billion RMB (about 7,300 billion VND) after 59 days of release, becoming the 2nd highest-grossing film in the Chinese box office in 2026, only behind "Phy trì nhân sinh 3" by Shen Tang.

Notably, most of the actors in the film are new people or people who do not work in the field of acting. Among them, Vuong Hieu Hue - the girl who played Thuc Nhu in her youth - was originally just an amateur actress, registered for auditions at the recommendation of friends and accidentally became attached to this character.

Recently, she attracted attention when sharing in an interview about her audition process as well as future development plans.

Fans once thought that Vuong Hieu Hue would take advantage of the success of "Love Letter to Grandma" to step into the entertainment industry and continue to receive more new works.

However, she has repeatedly publicly stated that she currently has no intention of developing in the entertainment industry, and even refused invitations from many management companies.

This choice is in contrast to the other main actress of the film, Ly Tu Dong, who has signed a contract with an entertainment company to officially debut as an actress.

Currently, Vuong Hieu Hue has returned to Shantou (Guangdong, China), returning to her old job as an illustrative designer for a toy factory, living a regular working life according to office hours from 9 am to 5 pm.

This decision surprised and admired many viewers, because even though she became famous overnight, she remained steadfast in the lifestyle she desired.

As someone who has never been trained in professional acting, Vuong Hieu Hue said that initially she registered for auditions at the recommendation of friends. Because she had planned to travel with her parents, she once intended to give up this opportunity, but in the end still participated in auditions and easily won the role.

However, in the script, the young version of Thuc Nhu is built as a very beautiful girl, which makes her lack confidence, even fall into a state of anxiety. Before filming, she once had the intention to give up the role because she was worried that she could not portray the character well.

Speaking about her acting career, Vuong Hieu Hue frankly confided that from a young age she never thought about entering the entertainment industry, so she had no preparation for this path.

Before the compliments about her performance of the role of Thuc Nhu, she repeatedly emphasized that the success of the role largely comes from the solid script and the inherent appeal of the character, not entirely thanks to her acting ability.

She believes that the director chose her perhaps because some of her characteristics coincidentally matched the role of Thuc Nhu, but that does not mean that other roles in the future will also be suitable like that.

Vuong Hieu Hue understands that she still has a lot to learn and practice. She admits that she is not confident enough to take on another role and is worried that if she does not perform well, she will disappoint everyone's expectations.

At the same time, she said that if she chooses to become an actress, she needs to have a strong enough mentality to receive both praise and criticism from the public.

Vuong Hieu Hue is aware that once she enters the entertainment industry, public attention will increasingly increase and may spread to her private life, causing her family and friends to also be affected. Currently, that is still something she is not ready to face.
