On September 22nd in Hanoi, the Vietnam National Drama Theatre solemnly held the death anniversary ceremony of the Ancestral Stage of the nation (August 12th lunar calendar), with the participation of many generations of artists, those who have worked at the Theater.
Veteran artists such as: People's Artist Kim Thu, People's Artist Doan Chau, People's Artist Trung Anh, People's Artist Lan Huong, People's Artist Viet Thang, Meritorious Artist Do Ky, Meritorious Artist Phu Don... and many young actors all attended the event. However, the absence of People's Artist Quoc Khanh made many people question.
Sharing with Lao Dong reporters, Mr. Trinh Mai Nguyen - Deputy Director of the Vietnam Drama Theater - said that the theater has sent invitations to attend the stage ancestor's death anniversary for all retired artists.
According to Mr. Nguyen, People's Artist Quoc Khanh was absent due to personal matters.
Mr. Khanh's health has stabilized, and his spirit is also very good. He also accepted to perform. When he is free, friends often come to visit him," Mr. Mai Nguyen added.
After rumors about his health at the end of 2025, Quoc Khanh affirmed that he is healthy and still works in filmmaking.
In March 2026, he participated in the skit "Picking Up Democracy" in the program "Rendee with March" on VTV3 with People's Artist Tu Long, Meritorious Artist Chi Trung, Meritorious Artist Quang Thang, Van Dung, Trung Ruoi.
At the end of 2022, People's Artist Quoc Khanh decided to retire after more than 40 years of working at the Vietnam Drama Theater.
The male artist said that in his journey pursuing art, he has no regrets or remorse: "The life of an artist has many milestones. There are plays that are performed and then hoped to perform better the next night, there are movies that wrapped up and then wished that if I could film again, I would perform better. I have had a period of living wholeheartedly with art, so I don't regret anything.
Artist Quoc Khanh (born in 1962) is originally from Hanoi, his family has 2 sisters, his parents are civil servants. After finishing 10th grade, he took the first-year actor training course of the Vietnam Drama Theater from 1978 to 1982.
In those days, studying with him included some artists who have now become famous such as: People's Artist Trung Anh, People's Artist Trong Trinh, People's Artist Lan Huong, Meritorious Artist Do Ky, Que Hang... After graduating, he stayed at the theater to work until he retired in November 2022.
From a drama actor, Quoc Khanh also regularly appears in humorous roles in the skit "Meeting at the End of the Week" with performances with colleagues such as: People's Artist Cong Ly, Meritorious Artist Quang Thang, artists Pham Bang - Van Dung...
In particular, from the "Tao Quan" program, people mention him with the title "Ngoc Hoang" when he has held this character on stage for more than 20 years.
At the 15th Vietnam Film Festival (2007), NSND Quoc Khanh won the Golden Lotus Award for Best Leading Actor for the movie "Ha Dong Silk Dress".
In 2012, he was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist. In March 2024, he was awarded the title of People's Artist at the Hanoi Opera House.
