In order to connect tourism between Ha Long Bay and Cat Ba and Hai Phong archipelagos, Quang Ninh province officially launched a new tourism journey on Ha Long Bay - Ha Long Bay 6 Journey, from May 1, 2025.
The itinerary of this tour includes: Ha Long or Tuan Chau - Hon Chan Voi - Ba Cua crab - Tung Lam - Hon Cau Bai (the end point of the journey adjacent to Gia Luan, Lan Ha Bay, Hai Phong) or vice versa.
The fee for this route is 150,000 VND/time/person/day.
However, according to the Quang Ninh Province Waterways and Inland Waterway Vehicle Inspection Port Authority, up to now, this unit has not issued an order for any ship to operate on this route.
Meanwhile, according to Mr. Nguyen Duy Phu - Chairman of Lan Ha Yacht Association, an association of more than 60 overnight ships on Lan Ha Bay - no ship on Lan Ha Bay runs on this route for many reasons, including that along the route, no ship is allowed to stop at any point for tourists to visit and explore.
"The locations listed in Ha Long Bay 6 Journey, such as: Hon Chan Voi, Ba Cua Cau Cau, Tung Lam Island, Hon Cau Bai... are just the locations that ships pass through, not the places for tourists to visit" - Mr. Phu said.
Therefore, currently, tourists from Ha Long to stay overnight in Lan Ha Bay still mainly travel by high-speed boat, increasing their number from Tuan Chau to go directly to overnight tourist boats anchored in Lan Ha Bay.
It is estimated that each year, there are an average of over 500,000 visitors, mostly international visitors, taking a high-speed boat from Tuan Chau, Ha Long City to a tourist boat on Lan Ha Bay, Cat Ba, Hai Phong.
Currently, Quang Ninh province and Hai Phong city are studying to let tourist boats on Lan Ha Bay take tourists to visit some tourist attractions on Ha Long Bay Journey 3 and 4, in Ha Long Bay. These are the 2 routes with the fewest visitors and ships on Ha Long Bay, because they are far away and have no beaches.
