The golden age of a comedian
Born in 1953, Duy Phuong made his mark on the comedy stage from the 1980s-1990s. With a natural, Southern style of acting and flexible juggling ability, he quickly became a face loved by a large audience. Duy Phuong's name is covered from the stage, comedy tapes to television dramas, and is considered by many audiences as one of the prominent comedians of this period.
The period when the music and comedy video market developed was also when Duy Phuong entered the most brilliant stage in his career. He continuously appeared in skits, performing with many famous artists such as Bao Quoc, Hong To, Minh Nhi, Hong Van... According to the male artist's sharing in many interviews, there were times when his performance schedule was almost full every day, his cat-xe was high and his family life was quite prosperous.
Not only operating on stage, Duy Phuong also participated in television dramas, movies and many entertainment programs. However, in the 2000s, when audience tastes changed, comedy stage gradually lost its appeal, and more young artists appeared, causing his performance frequency to decrease significantly. From then on, the male artist's life entered a different period.

The events after the halo
Not only facing the stagnation of his career, Duy Phuong also went through many upheavals in his private life. The broken marriage with artist Le Giang once received public attention. In 2017, after the program "Sau anh hao quang" aired with Le Giang's sharing about her old marriage, Duy Phuong's name once again became the focus of debate.
After the upheavals, Duy Phuong almost withdrew from his bustling artistic activities to focus on making a living. He opened and maintained a restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City, directly participating in most of the work from preparing ingredients, standing in the kitchen, serving customers to receiving orders and delivering goods when staff is lacking. The image of a comedian who used to stand on crowded stages now busily in a restaurant makes many people feel sad.
Duy Phuong shared with reporters that business also encountered difficulties at times. He said that after the events, the number of customers coming to the shop decreased significantly, revenue was affected, forcing his family to tighten spending to maintain business. At times, the male artist worked from early morning until late at night, almost no days off to save labor costs.
Although life is no longer as prosperous as in his prime, Duy Phuong has repeatedly affirmed that he has never felt ashamed of working to earn a living. According to the male artist, when there are no longer many performance invitations, switching to business is a suitable choice to support his family. He believes that the value of an artist does not lie in whether they are still famous or not, but in how they work honestly to overcome difficulties.
At the age of 73, Duy Phuong chose a simple life with his family. On his recent birthday, his son - artist Duy Phuoc - posted a picture celebrating his father's birthday, receiving many wishes from colleagues and audiences. After many ups and downs, the male artist no longer puts a lot of emphasis on the glory of the past but spends more time with his family, business and enjoying a simple life.
