Musician Nguyen Van Chung is one of the successful authors and is familiar to the audience through a series of songs "Mother's Diary", "The Warm Wind scarves", "Flying in the Galaxy". However, few people know that to have such a persistent journey, he went through many difficulties in his early career, struggling to find someone to put faith in his composition. And the first person to come out to create an opportunity for him was singer Nguyen Vu.
Recalling that time, the musician shared respectfully: When I first composed, no one knew who I was, nor did anyone dare to buy a song from a new person. But Nguyen Vu was the first person to trust and decide to buy my composition.
At that time, Nguyen Vu took on the role of Deputy Director of a music company. He has selected and included Nguyen Van Chung's songs in products for performing singers. Those songs were later played on many stages, creating their first impression and opening the door for Nguyen Van Chung to enter the professional music market.
According to the musician, Nguyen Vu's support is not only in buying the song, but more importantly, the affirmation of the composition value of a young person. When a person with a position in the profession puts their trust in you, that feeling is very special. I always consider it a great favor, he said. Thanks to this stepping stone, Nguyen Van Chung has more motivation to compose, gradually creating songs that are loved by the public and making their mark in many stages of V-pop.
Meeting Nguyen Vu again on the "hot seat" of the program "Challenge Limited" 2025, Nguyen Van Chung admitted that he could not help but be moved. He considers this a meaningful reunion after many years of pursuing each other's own journey in music. "Sitting in the same judge position with Mr. Vu reminds me of the early days of selling cards, the times I took the demo to knock on every studio door. If it weren't for the first person to put faith in me, I wouldn't have been able to persevere until today," he shared.
In addition to his confidences about his affection for his senior, Nguyen Van Chung also talked about his composing views, especially in music about his homeland and country. He believes that the value of a song lies not in the number of views but in the emotions that the audience leaves after each listen.
