The 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists takes place in the context that the art of photography is facing rapid changes.
Speaking at the opening of the Congress, Dr. Photographic Artist Tran Thi Thu Dong, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, said that the Congress is a big festival for the photography community, an opportunity for photographers across the country to meet, exchange, trade, look back at the past journey and orient the road ahead.
At the Congress, delegates reviewed and evaluated the results of the 2020-2026 term; approved the Summary Report, directions for the 2026-2031 term, the Review Report of the Executive Committee and the amended and supplemented Charter.
The Congress elected the Executive Committee for the X term in the direction of inheritance, rejuvenation, ensuring standards, reasonable structure, selecting typical people in terms of qualities, capacity, prestige, capable of uniting, gathering artists and performing the tasks of the Association in the new term.
With the spirit of "Solidarity - Identity - Creativity - Integration", the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists determines to continue to innovate operating methods, build a specific roadmap to implement major resolutions of the Central Government, concretizing them into tasks suitable for photography activities.
The goal is to build a strong Association in terms of organization, professionalism, and comprehensive activities; promote the strength of national unity and the cultural identity of Vietnamese photography, contributing to the implementation of national development goals.
In the new term, the Association focuses on creating conditions for members to create works of ideological and artistic value, truthfully reflecting life, country, nation and people; building a streamlined apparatus, not bureaucratizing; promoting cadre training, theoretical and critical work; fostering the young generation and effectively applying digital technology in the Association's activities.
Speaking to direct the Congress, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Duc Phong acknowledged and praised the efforts and results achieved by the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists in the past term. The Association has promoted the spirit of solidarity, innovated the content and methods of operation, adapted to changes in social life and digital technology; played a good role in connecting the team of photographic artists nationwide, contributing to the development of photography art.
Orienting some key tasks in the new term, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Duc Phong proposed that the Association continue to consolidate the political foundation, enhance the social responsibility of artists; identify political and ideological work as a xuyên suốt task. Creative activities need to aim for beauty, goodness, promote humanity, and truthfully reflect Vietnamese life, culture and people.
Faced with the rapid development of digital technology and artificial intelligence, the Association needs to proactively adapt and master new technologies while still maintaining authenticity - the core value of photography; support members, especially young artists, improve technology application capacity and promote digital transformation in professional activities.
Along with that, the Association needs to focus on building organizations, staff and developing the young generation; linking photography development with the cultural industry, gradually forming a photography market, building photo banks and databases, promoting digitization, exploiting digital platforms, and protecting copyright and creative rights.
Promoting the role of a member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Association continues to contribute to gathering and uniting artists, creating social consensus, spreading good values; and at the same time strengthening exchanges, exhibitions, creation and international professional exchange, contributing to enhancing the position of Vietnamese photography.
