The book fair takes place at the Hoan Kiem Lake Walking Street area, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi. The opening ceremony takes place at 8:00 p.m. on September 27.
This is an activity to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation Day of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024), the 25th anniversary of Hanoi being honored by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as "City for Peace", the 9th Hanoi Book Fair - 2024 with the theme "Hanoi: Capital of culture, heroes - City for peace" organized by the Hanoi People's Committee in coordination with the Ministry of Information and Communications with the participation of more than 30 publishers and book distribution enterprises nationwide, bringing a reading culture space and many attractive book exchange and experience programs.
The 9th Hanoi Book Fair - 2024 continues to receive the response and participation of a number of diplomatic agencies such as: Embassies of Laos, Cambodia, France, Italy... promising many attractive and colorful cultural exchange activities.
The 9th Hanoi Book Fair - 2024 has many meaningful activities, in which the highlight is the book display and exhibition with the theme "Hanoi: Capital of culture and heroes - City for peace" serving readers for free with books on economics, politics, culture, military, diplomacy of Hanoi Publishing House and works written about Hanoi by publishers and joint publishing companies participating in the Hanoi Book Fair; affirming the importance of books in social life, demonstrating the tradition of studiousness of the Vietnamese people, promoting the cultural values of Thang Long - Hanoi, contributing to improving people's knowledge, and sustainably developing the country's human resources.
Within the framework of the Hanoi Book Fair 2024, in addition to bringing many book titles with rich and diverse genres, attractive content, and special incentive programs, publishers and book companies have prepared attractive and meaningful exchange programs, introducing new works to readers and carrying messages of pride about the cultural and historical traditions of Thang Long - Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general.
After 9 times of organization, Hanoi Book Fair has become a festival for exchange between publishing units nationwide, a cultural meeting place for book lovers, contributing to spreading and improving reading culture to a large number of domestic readers as well as international tourists.
In particular, recently, storm No. 3 (Yagi) has caused great consequences and damage to a number of provinces and cities across the country, including the capital Hanoi. Although the publishing industry is still facing many difficulties, many publishing units in Hanoi were also affected by storm No. 3, promoting the tradition of "mutual love and support", the Organizing Committee of the 9th Hanoi Book Fair - 2024 launched a call for publishers, book companies in the area, publishing units participating in the Book Fair and readers to donate books to school libraries in suburban districts of Hanoi that were heavily affected by storms and floods.
After the Book Fair ends, the Department of Information and Communications will coordinate with the Department of Education and Training and the Hanoi Youth Union to receive, classify and donate books to schools. This is one of the timely and meaningful activities of the capital's publishing industry, as well as the Hanoi Book Fair Organizing Committee. The donated books will be gifts of knowledge, contributing to encouraging children to overcome difficulties and succeed in their studies.
