On March 15, the 2025 Vietnam Film Day ceremony was held in Hanoi. This year, Vietnam Cinema Day took place in an exciting atmosphere across the country to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.
On this occasion, in the film festival program, the Vietnam Film Association held a solemn ceremony to commemorate and express gratitude to veteran artists and filmmakers who worked as filmmakers, reporters, shots, and documentaries... at the battlefields: B (B4: Tri Thien Hue, B2: The South - where the Liberation Army Film Studio was formed, B3: Zone 5), C (Laos), K (Cambodia) during the period of fighting the US to save the country from 1954 to April 30, 1975.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Do Lenh Hung Tu - Chairman of the Vietnam Cinema Association - said: "At this ceremony, we are proud to honor the soldiers, war reporters, and artists who work in shading across the country. Many Southerners have seen the image of the North and especially seen the image of President Ho Chi Minh on film. There were people who were moved and said: "Please project the ball slowly so that I can see the image of Uncle Ho".
Today, the Vietnam Film Association expressed its pride and gratitude to the battlefield reporters, shots, battlefield camerators, artists, and managers who have accompanied and helped. Let's work together towards the era of national growth, including the significant contribution of Vietnamese cinema".
The special part of the ceremony was the activity of awarding the "For the Cause of the Cinema" Medal of the Vietnam Cinema Association to pay tribute to the filmmakers with the spirit of courageous sacrifice and extraordinary determination to fulfill the glorious tasks of artists - soldiers on fierce battlefields.
The images and footage that artists had to spend their lives recording now have become an invaluable image of the heroic struggle of our army and people for national independence and freedom.
On this occasion, the Association also presented Commemorative Medals to members of the Executive Committee from the first term (in 1970) to date and a number of officials who have made positive contributions to the development of the Vietnam Cinema Association.

Vietnamese cinema has gone through a historical journey of more than 70 years. On March 15,53 in Ban Bac village, Diem Mac commune, Dinh Hoa district, Thai Nguyen province, President Ho Chi Minh signed Decree No. 147/SL establishing the State-owned ball and photography business to officially establish Vietnamese revolutionary cinema.
Vietnamese cinema was born from the Revolution, serving the Party's ideals and being closely associated with the people, and has continuously grown, making many positive contributions to Vietnamese literature and art.
Hundreds of film artists have sacrificed themselves in the resistance wars for national independence and freedom, setting a shining example in the image of artists - revolutionary soldiers.
Promoting the responsibility of socio-political organizations - professions in the field of cinema and television activities for the common career, the Vietnam Cinema Association has submitted to the Secretariat a Project on Vietnam Cinema Day and was allowed by the Secretariat in Notice No. 262/TB-TW dated July 24, 2009 to take March 15 as Vietnam Cinema Day.
This is a special honor for the film industry, an opportunity to summarize the achievements of the country's cinema, recognizing the contributions of many generations of artists and filmmakers in the resistance war and national construction. This is also an opportunity to encourage and motivate the team of people working in cinema nationwide to continue to develop in the new situation.
