Trang Waterfall is a spontaneous community tourism destination, located in Nhan My commune (Tan Lac district, Hoa Binh). This tourist area stands out for its wild beauty and indigenous culture of the Muong people. In recent years, especially from 2024, this destination has attracted thousands of visitors every summer.
On the terraced fields at the foot of the waterfall, dozens of households set up tents to serve tourists to eat and rest.
The rapid and spontaneous development of Thac Trang tourist area has led to many consequences. The drowning incident that occurred in early May 2025, causing 2 deaths, shocked the local public. Along with that are a series of shortcomings in management such as: lack of rescue systems, backlog of waste, substandard business operations, posing many potential risks to tourists...
Faced with the above situation, the People's Committee of Nhan My commune has organized inspection teams and worked with business and trading households in this tourist area. The People's Committee of Nhan My commune requires households to strictly comply with regulations on fire prevention, fighting, food hygiene, not cooking in shelters and posting service prices...
The People's Committee of Nhan My commune also has a policy of setting up a checkpoint to collect fees to enter Thac Trang tourist area at the expected price, for adults it is 20,000 VND/trip and for children it is 10,000 VND/trip.
Mr. Bui Van Tan - Vice Chairman of Nhan My Commune People's Committee said that if households do not comply with regulations on ensuring safety for tourists, the authorities will temporarily suspend all tourism activities in the Thac Trang area until the end of July 2025.
"We are forced to work with determination to ensure safety. All solutions are aimed at methodical and long-term operation" - Mr. Tan said.
At the working sessions with the Nhan My commune government, people also made proposals such as: collecting garbage 3 times a week, training rescue skills, clearly listing service prices, and classifying business models to calculate appropriate fees... The Nhan My commune government also committed to coordinating with the Cooperative, the Police and the commune health station to ensure comprehensive safety, from fire prevention, fire fighting to food hygiene and accommodation.
Trang Waterfall is facing an opportunity to develop community tourism. After the drowning incident that killed 2 people in early May, the local government here has strengthened management to ensure the safety of tourists as well as ensure livelihoods for people doing business and trading in this tourist area.
