Seizing opportunities, developing tourism
In early March 2025, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters had the opportunity to visit Hoa Binh Lake. According to records, there are many tourists flocking to the Spring, creating a bustling atmosphere. Along with that, many homestays, spacious restaurants, and high-end resorts have been invested in to serve tourists.
While driving a boat to take visitors on the lake, Ms. Dinh Thi Xuan (Thang Nai Port, Cao Phong District) shared: Most of the people used to do agriculture or fish, aquaculture, and had unstable incomes. In recent years, tourism in the Hoa Binh lake area has developed strongly, creating many jobs for local workers".
According to Ms. Xuan, many people have boldly borrowed capital to invest in boats to serve tourists. During peak season (Spring), the number of visitors to the lake is very large, so the average income of people with tourist boats, after deducting depreciation costs, reaches about 15 million VND/month. In addition, another choice for people is to work at resorts and homestays.
Mr. Mai Van Thanh - Manager of Mo Village Resort (Mo hamlet, Hien Luong commune, Da Bac district) said that the unit currently has 10 employees, all of whom are local people. When recruited, they will be trained before starting work with an income of about 7-8 million VND/month.
According to Mr. Thanh, in the past, people mainly worked in agriculture, fishing or had to work far away in industrial parks in Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Ha Nam, etc.
In recent years, tourism in Hoa Binh has developed, many businesses have invested in building homestays and resorts, creating stable jobs and helping local workers have better income.
Tourism creates thousands of jobs in Hoa Binh Lake
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Ban Kim Quy - Vice Chairman of Da Bac District People's Committee - said that in recent years, tourism in the Hoa Binh lake area has developed strongly, creating many jobs for local workers as well as contributing to the budget.
According to Ms. Quy, to promote tourism development, especially in the lake area, Hoa Binh province and Da Bac district have implemented many policies to attract investment, develop infrastructure, facilities and typical tourism products of Hoa Binh Lake Tourist Area. The local government also creates favorable conditions for businesses to invest and do tourism business here.
"With potential, advantages and majestic natural landscapes, the locality hopes to attract more businesses to pay attention to and invest in developing tourism in the Hoa Binh lake area, contributing to creating more jobs for workers in the locality and neighboring areas," Ms. Quy shared.
Ms. Quach Thi Kieu - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hoa Binh province - said that Hoa Binh lake has great tourism potential with many types such as eco-tourism, spirituality, resorts, entertainment and community tourism, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists. Currently, Hoa Binh Lake Tourist Area has more than 100 accommodation facilities serving tourism, creating jobs for over 1,200 workers.
Also according to the leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hoa Binh province, in 2024, the whole province welcomed over 4.3 million visitors, with an estimated revenue of VND 4,738 billion (up 17.9% over the same period last year).
Hoa Binh Lake National Tourist Area was approved by the Government in 2016, located in Hoa Binh city and 4 districts: Da Bac, Cao Phong, Tan Lac and Mai Chau. The goal by 2030 is to achieve total revenue from tourists of about VND1,800 billion and create jobs for about 4,000 workers.
