The first episodes partly met expectations: Beautiful appearance, meticulous setting, tight film pace and emotional dialogues.
The harmonious combination of the two main actors helped the film create a good effect, opening a story that is both romantic and intertwined with a battle for power.
However, the deeper the film went, the more it gradually revealed its limitations in script. In episodes 24 and 25, the details began to fall into the wore path. Hoa Yen pretended to be Nhu Phi to go to the hospital for emergency treatment - a seemingly dramatic knot that was handled creatively.
Meanwhile, the detail of Tieu Giac misunderstanding Hoa Yen for not being a complete listener was complained by many viewers as an "old story" of the romance film.
The character So Chieu was introduced as a "green tea" to increase conflicts, but the construction was not in-depth enough, easily causing discomfort rather than attraction.
The emotional flow is also considered unreasonable. The fact that Tieu Giac "faces cold" with Hoa Yen and quickly changes his attitude makes the audience feel that the script is only deliberately prolonged by misunderstanding and removing the button, instead of naturally developing according to the character's personality. Although Thua Loi and Chau Da tried their best to express, they find it difficult to save a story lacking in potential.
"Cham Nguyet Nhu Ca" is in a typical situation of many recent historical films: "Dau a giay met cuoi". If it started out promising a dramatic and emotional journey, the later it got, the more the film lost its novelty, making the audience regret a project with a talented cast but not supported by a strong enough script.
