The romantic comedy Surely Tomorrow revolves around the couple Lee Gyeong Do (Park Seo Joon) and Seo Ji Woo (Won Ji An).
They first met at the age of 20 and developed feelings for each other but broke up afterwards. 8 years later, the two dated again but continued to leave. And now, they meet again - when Gyeong Do is a reporter reporting an affair scandal and Ji Woo is the wife of the man at the center of the incident.
The work has aired its first two episodes with unimpressive viewership ratings - reaching 2.7% and 3.3%, respectively. This number is not too unpredictable, when in the same screening frame, there are many "rivals" such as "Famous 3", "Golden Time", "P common Lawyer" ... all aired.
With not too new content, Mong nam mai den is predicted to have a hard time exploding in ratings - even though the film still has 10 episodes. However, the film still received support from a part of the audience for its nostalgic setting and cinematic tones.
Telling the stories of the two main characters seasonally is a plus point. Viewers compared Gyeong Do and Ji Woo's 18-year relationship to a "mental fever" because for nearly 2 decades, they still silently remember and support each other, even though Ji Woo is married and divorced.
In this project, Park Seo Joon admits that he has returned with a more mature image. Instead of calling Mong nam mai den a romantic comedy, he said that the film is close to the drama genre. For him, the stories of characters with conflicts originate from reality and easily create empathy with everyone.
However, the actor's role as a character throughout 18 years caused some controversy, because when he was a student, he thought Gyeong Do was old enough, even though the crew tried to use a hooded dress to make him lose wrinkles. Meanwhile, his co-star - Won Ji An brought many changes - making viewers able to predict her age through the ages.
Even the 11-year age gap between the two actors (Park Seo Joon born in 1988, Won Ji An born in 1999) seemed an obstacle, but when filming, there were not too many differences.
Park Seo Joon praised her junior for being "unbelievable, experienced," while Won Ji An said that she learned a lot from this collaboration. Instead of focusing on the achievements of the film "Mong nam mai den", they hope that the audience can experience a warm and comfortable season when watching the work.
