Documentary by Lao Dong reporter wins Indian Independent Film Festival

The documentary My Mother (directed and filmed by Tran Viet Van - reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper; screenwriter and producer: Dang Thu Ha) won the Best Short Documentary award in July-August 2025 at the Indian Independent Film Festival.

The Indian Independent Film Festival is an international film festival competition based in India, organizing monthly rounds to select works that are eligible for the annual award. Outstanding projects from the monthly round, including the official nominations for the annual awards, will be screened at the annual awards event.

The Indian Independent Film Festival also organizes special film screenings and exchanges with actors and film crews... Up to this award, My Mother has won 4 international awards (previously the two awards for Best Documentary and Best First Documentary Director at Cine Paris Film Festival in May 2025, the First Prize in the Family/Children category at Caravan International Film Festival (India, 15th season).

A week ago, My Mother was selected for selection in three international film festivals: Anatolia International Film Festival (Turkey), The Monthly Film Festival (UK), Bangkok Movie Awards (Thailand) and before that, the finalist (Finalist) Sweden Film Awards (Sweden), selected for the Golden Short Film Festival (Italy), First-Time Filmmaker Sessions volume 5 at the Lift-Off Film Festival (UK).
