Documentary My Mother enters the final round of the June Sweden Film Awards (Sweden)

    The documentary My Mother by Viet Van, a reporter for Lao Dong Newspaper, entered the final round of the June Sweden Film Awards - Swedish Film Awards according to the announcement of the Organizing Committee on the evening of July 8, 2025.

    Sweden Film Awards is the first monthly and annual international competition in Sweden, accepting films from around the world, awarding awards in many different categories from feature films to documentaries, comedies, experimental films, horror films...

    The monthly winning films in the main categories will be screened publicly and compete for awards at the annual film festival of the Swedish Film Awards.

    According to the Organizing Committee, there are three ratings for the film: winner, finalist (second place) and semi-finalist (third place), 24 films entered the finals (finalist) of many categories in June. The film My Mother (Director and Principal: Viet Van; Screenwriter and Producer: Dang Thu Ha) is the finalist for the category:First Documentary Film) recreating the portrait of researcher Associate Professor, Dr. Le Thi Duc Hanh.

    Previously, the film won the "Best Short Documentary" and "Best Initial Short Documentary Director" awards at Cine Paris Film Festival and was selected for the Golden Short Film Festival (Italy) and "First-Time Filmmaker Sessions volume 5" from Lift-Off Film Festival (UK) to air online on Vimeo for two weeks from May 19 to June 1, 2025.
