At the conference to implement Directive 30/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister on developing Vietnam's cultural industries held in Da Nang, Dr. Do Quoc Viet - Deputy Director of the Department of Cinema said that the film distribution and dissemination market in Vietnam has developed quite strongly again after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Currently, the country has 5 domestic film distribution and distribution establishments, 7 foreign-invested film distribution and distribution establishments, and 11 enterprises qualified to classify films on cyberspace.
The number of issuance and dissemination establishments has increased gradually over the years, especially in the foreign-invested enterprise sector.
The number of Vietnamese films licensed to be shown in theaters tends to increase. The number of popular foreign films shown in Vietnamese theaters has also increased sharply.
The trend of producing remake films - remade from famous foreign films - has developed quite strongly and has initially been successful in terms of revenue. Films of businesses and film establishments across the country have developed strongly, many films have won many international awards.
Many high-grossing films are positive signs contributing to the development of the film industry, such as: “Bo Gia”, “Hai Phuong”, “Cua lai vo bau”, “Nha Ba Nu”, and most recently, “Mai” which grossed nearly 500 billion VND…
According to Mr. Viet, these are films with multi-dimensional perspectives, reflecting family and social life, made in an attractive format, capable of conveying positive messages to the audience, and having a good influence on social life.
In addition, State films have also created trust among the audience with diverse stories and perspectives, generalizing major social issues, and being humane. Some films have been representative of Vietnamese cinema such as the film "The Prophet", which won the "Best Cinematography" award at the 19th Vietnam Film Festival; the film "Thau Chin in Xiem" won the A Prize, the "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style" composition award...
"The film "Dao, Pho and Piano" was outstanding, winning the Silver Lotus Award at the 23rd Vietnam Film Festival. The film was widely shown on a pilot basis at the National Cinema Center and 17 cinema systems in several provinces/cities, creating an attraction for the audience, attracting a large number of viewers, creating a good impression of the effectiveness of the film ordered by the State," said Mr. Viet.
