Written by screenwriter Kim Hye Young of “The Secret of Fangirl”, the film “No Gain No Love” revolves around the story of Son Hae Young (Shin Min Ah) - a woman who marries for convenience to avoid losses and Kim Ji Wook (Kim Young Dae) - a man who becomes her fake husband to avoid causing any harm.
According to the producer, Son Hae Young is a woman who hates losing money at any time, anywhere, and with anyone. With her quick and sharp calculation skills, she evaluates profits and losses in every aspect of life, including education, relationships, and work. As soon as there was a risk of missing out on a promotion at the company, Hae Young planned to get married for convenience.
Sharing about her character, who is part of the calculation and "money-loving" Shin Min Ah shared: “Hae Young is a character who does not want to lose in any situation, at any time, anywhere, or with anyone. The intense calculating nature makes her somewhat pitiful, but at the same time, her straightforwardness makes the character extremely charming.”
According to the actress, there are three accurate keywords to describe Son Hae Young, which are “no loss”, “calculation”, and “hot outside and cold inside”. To show off the various aspects of the character, Shin Min Ah focused a lot on acting in this project.
“Sometimes Hae Young expresses her emotions using rough language, so I practiced a lot to make it sound natural. In addition, since this is the first time I played an office worker, I thought a lot about the style. I think I can show many different styles that reflect Hae Young's position in the company” - Shin Min Ah said.
Talking more about what the audience can expect from “No Gain No Love”, Kim Woo Bin's girlfriend said that the audience will feel the film is more interesting if they follow Hae Young's emotional journey to understand why she hates being harmed and has to stage a fake wedding.
However, contrary to the audience's expectations of Shin Min Ah's impressive performance, the media has raised concerns about her co-star - Kim Young Dae.
Naver once evaluated that the acting style of the male actor was one-dimensional, with forced expressions and a lack of chemistry when paired with his co-star. This is also the reason why many of Kim Young Dae's works, such as “Sao Bang”, “Forbidden Order”, “Moon Up in the Day”... received low ratings and received many negative reviews.
In the new project, Kim Young Dae's character was praised as charming, but when paired with Shin Min Ah, he did not create chemistry and looked a bit mismatched, although the older sister still maintained a youthful appearance at 40 years old.
