Regarding the incident of streamer IShowSpeed being charged 100 USD/experience when renting an electric car on Nguyen Hue walking street (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Le Truong Hien Hoa - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism - said that the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism has sent an apology to the streamer. Previously, the unit also coordinated with District 1 to clarify the incident.
Mr. Le Truong Hien Hoa also appreciated the quick and timely handling of the incident by the authorities. The Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Department issued warnings about cases of street vendors "ripping off" customers as well as strengthening measures to prevent "ripping off" customers at tourist destinations.
As Lao Dong Newspaper reported, on the evening of September 14, Ben Nghe Ward Police, District 1, invited two people who rented electric vehicles on Nguyen Hue walking street to work because they had "ripped off" streamer IShowSpeed.
Previously, social networks circulated a clip recording the scene of two men renting out self-balancing electric scooters and "ripping off" male streamer IShowSpeed for 1 million VND on the night of September 13.
On the personal YouTube page of streamer IShowSpeed, he made a livestream lasting more than 3 hours recording his activities at Nguyen Hue walking street with a large number of fans following him.
Unexpectedly, IShowSpeed met two men who rented electric balance bikes, and this YouTuber was interested in renting one to experience. The middle-aged man quoted the rental price of 100 USD. At this point, IShowSpeed paused for a moment, but then signaled to pay.
When the male streamer took the money, the other young man who rented the bike quoted 1 million VND. IShowSpeed had to pay 1 million VND for 2 people to rent a self-balancing electric bike to experience for a few minutes.
It is known that the rental price of the above mentioned vehicle is normally only 30,000 - 50,000 VND/hour. The above incident has created many mixed reactions on social networks.
