The Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City affirmed that it will resolutely handle performing artists, releasing offensive, vulgar songs, promoting a distorted lifestyle, causing public outrage in recent times.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hang - Deputy Head of the Department of Arts, Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City - said that Ho Chi Minh City is the largest cultural and artistic center in the country, where music life is vibrant and diverse. However, in parallel with the development, there is still a phenomenon of creative deviation from standards, vulgar lyrics, and offensive performances, affecting traditional customs.
According to Ms. Hang, the Department of Culture and Sports will strengthen inspection and inter-sectoral coordination to detect and strictly handle violations, while promoting propaganda and education to raise awareness, self-awareness and professional responsibility of artists. "We listen to opinions from experts and professional organizations to orient artistic activities correctly and healthily," she said.
Regarding inviting artists to perform in programs and festivals, a representative of the Department of Culture and Sports said that they will select based on expertise, attitude and standards in professional activities, ensuring the cultural image of Ho Chi Minh City.
Previously, the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee sent a document to the Department of Culture and Sports, the Music Association and relevant agencies, requesting to rectify music activities that are deviant from standards, after appearing many products with offensive content, poor language, and promoting negative lifestyles.
