At a regular press conference on the afternoon of June 5 in Ho Chi Minh City, when a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper asked about the current situation, some famous people, beauty queens, and singers are involved in many scandals, according to the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, is it necessary to ban artists from violating ethics and standards?
In response to this question, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City responded that: "...For cases of artists who violate the law or social ethics standards, state management agencies can apply appropriate handling measures such as: Administrative sanctions, application of additional sanctions (temporary suspension or ban from participating in art performances, television programs), and in cases of serious violations, the case can be transferred to the investigation agency for consideration and handling according to the provisions of law".
The Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City believes that artists and celebrities are individuals with great influence on the public, especially the young. Therefore, they need to be highly aware of their speech, behavior and lifestyle, avoiding negative impacts on society. Handling violations of ethics and standards is necessary, but needs to be done on the basis of the law, ensuring transparency, objectivity and no emotion, avoiding causing adverse reactions or inappropriate precedents.
"In addition to sanctions, it is necessary to strengthen education, foster professional ethics and social responsibility for those working in the art field.
The consideration of giving violating artists the opportunity to return to work should also be carefully considered, based on the attitude of being lenient, repentance, full compliance with legal obligations (if any) and a commitment to positive change.
Supervision from management agencies and the public is a key factor to ensure a healthy, civilized artistic environment, towards positive values in society" - Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports said.
