The program is carried out towards the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) and the 35th anniversary of National Defense Day.
Awakening the heroic history of the nation
Set at the Vietnam Military History Museum, which was recently inaugurated, "Marching Under the Flag" follows soldiers as they recount a series of glorious victories in the nation's history.
It was a primitive army with the power to defeat the most powerful armies in the world, with the earth-shaking Dien Bien Phu victory in 1954 against the French colonialists or the Spring victory in 1975 against the American imperialists. That brave, indomitable army was loved by the people and affectionately called Uncle Ho's soldiers.
Throughout the program are the heroic melodies of "Sing Forever the Military March", "Vietnam's Posture", "Red Shirt Color", "Round Footprints on the Sand"... performed by the voices of Trong Tan, People's Artist Thanh Lam, People's Artist Tu Long, Tung Duong... and the soldiers and veterans who have devoted most of their lives to protecting the peaceful skies of the fatherland.
Under the shadow of the military flag, the soldiers are proud, ready to overcome countless difficulties, sacrifice for the flag, and complete the mission of protecting the homeland's borders.
They wrote immortal heroic epics, so that current and future generations will always be proud and grateful to the people's army, born from the people and fighting for the people.
Deeply engrave the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers
In addition to the special and touching footage of our army and people in the struggles to defend the country, the special art program "Marching under the military flag" also brings the opportunity to meet historical witnesses who lived and worked with Uncle Ho's soldiers many years ago.
That is Lieutenant General Pham Phu Thai - Hero of the People's Armed Forces - Former Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Air Defense - Air Force, a talented pilot of the Vietnam Air Force. He directly fought, shot down 4 American planes, was awarded 4 Uncle Ho Badges and many other noble medals.
That is Mrs. Le Thi Minh Thuy - a heroic Vietnamese mother who lost both her husband and son, who worked in the air force, during the fierce war. In 2008, Mrs. Thuy became the youngest woman to be awarded this title, at the age of 57.
Mr. Hoang Nam Tien - son of the late Major General Hoang Dan was extremely moved when re-reading some of the more than 400 letters that his father on the front line sent to his wife - Mrs. Nguyen Thi An Vinh.
Mr. Tien shared: "Everyone knows how fierce the war was at that time. And every time my father left, he might not come back. But my mother always believed that, with everything the family gave him, he would return.
When reading my father's letter, I suddenly realized the love of a couple, the love of a husband and wife, the love of a family, all imbued with love for the country."
Continuing the tradition of Uncle Ho's soldiers, now the children of heroes and martyrs who sacrificed for the country firmly follow suit and participate in the cause of protecting the peaceful skies of the nation.
The program brings the audience to meet Lieutenant Colonel Ho Dang Thao (Deputy Political Commissar, Thong Thu Border Post, Nghe An), who only knew about his martyr father through stories. When he grew up, he decided to follow his father's military career, with the promise to protect the homeland's borders, to fulfill his dream and the things his father could not do.
In addition to the elaborate footage and music performed by famous artists, "Marching Under the Flag" also features hundreds of actors and soldiers. The performances were filmed in many settings, with the highlight being the Vietnam Military History Museum, bringing a heroic atmosphere, evoking patriotism and deep national pride in the hearts of every viewer.
