On the evening of September 5th, the 73rd Miss World final took place at 2/4 Square, Nha Trang ward, Khanh Hoa province, with the participation of 111 contestants from countries and territories.
Besides the competitions that decide the position, the program dedicates a prominent space to introduce Vietnamese culture. In which, the ao dai performance of all 111 contestants creates a colorful picture of culture, traditional handicrafts and beauty of Vietnam.
The ao dai are combined with traditional props and handicrafts, helping the story of Vietnamese culture to be told in fashion language on international stages.
European representatives wore ao dai combined with wooden fans decorated with patterns. Meanwhile, the group of African contestants brought a different nuance when combining costumes with Bau Truc pottery - a typical handicraft of Cham culture.
For the Asian and Oceania groups, designer Ngo Nhat Huy chose Thanh Tien paper flowers and the image of lotus buds as highlights. Details imbued with Vietnamese cultural imprints are softly incorporated into the overall costume, creating a transition between tradition and modern stage.
According to the assessment of many viewers, in the final night, Vietnamese Ao Dai was one of the highlights throughout the program, along with art performances and images of Vietnamese culture and landscapes introduced to international audiences.
Not only traditional costumes, ao dai in the Miss World night also became a means of cultural promotion. When 111 beauties from many different cultures put on ao dai, the image of Vietnam appeared on the international stage in a soft, close but richly spreading way.
Attending the final night in traditional ao dai costumes, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Phuong - Southern Managing Director of Masterise Group - shared, "the decision to accompany Miss World 2026 comes first of all from the similarities in the values that both sides pursue. That is a standard not only expressed through scale or achievements.
