On the evening of April 18, at Gianh ferry wharf, Bac Gianh ward, Quang Tri province, the political art program "Epic Song on the River" was organized with profound political and cultural significance.
Attending the program were Comrade Le Tien Chau - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister and the Central working delegation; along with a large number of cadres, soldiers and people.
The program aims to review the heroic pages of the nation's history, express gratitude for the great contributions and heroic sacrifices of the armed forces and people in the cause of national liberation, national reunification and national defense.
The highlight of the program is to honor the resounding feats at Gianh Ferry Terminal and Gianh Port in the period 1964-1973. This is a vital traffic route with a particularly important strategic position in the resistance war, contributing to effective support for the Southern battlefield.
The program also introduces the historical and cultural values and new face of the Special National Relic Site Gianh Ferry - a "red address" in revolutionary tradition education, thereby arousing national pride and spreading messages of peace and development.
Gianh ferry is one of the strategic river crossing points on the transport route supporting the Southern battlefield. This place marks the sacrifice and resilience of youth volunteers, soldiers and local people in the process of transporting weapons and goods, ensuring smooth traffic under fierce bombs and bullets.
This place is also associated with the "first battle on the Gianh River" victory on August 2 and 5, 1964 of the Vietnam People's Navy, contributing to making important milestones in the history of resistance.
Gianh ferry wharf relic was ranked as a National Relic in 1998 and recognized as a Special National Relic in 2013, becoming one of the typical relics of revolutionary history, with profound traditional education value for today's and future generations.
The program is organized by Vietnam Television in coordination with Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, broadcast live on VTV1 channel from 8:10 PM to 9:40 PM on April 18, 2026.
