Vietnamese beauty affirms its position
A few days ago, the victory of Miss Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy at the Miss International 2024 arena made many people proud. Before coming to the world's third largest beauty arena, Thanh Thuy was crowned Miss Vietnam 2022, she is also the first Vietnamese beauty to win the crown at Miss International.
To compete at Miss International 2024, Thanh Thuy has spent a long time training to improve her physique, knowledge, and communication skills - all of which are carefully prepared by her and her team.
Although she is not the first Vietnamese beauty to win an international contest, Thanh Thuy's charisma, beauty and professional attitude throughout the competition completely convinced the audience.
Before Miss Thanh Thuy, we had Phuong Khanh crowned Miss Earth - Miss Earth 2018. She was the first Vietnamese beauty to be crowned in a contest in the top 6 largest beauty contests in the world and was the one who started the rise of Vietnamese beauty. After Phuong Khanh, Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien made history when she was crowned Miss Grand International 2021. Thuy Tien's victory caused a big stir and made the audience pay more attention to beauty contests.
Thuy Tien's story of not winning any previous beauty pageants, not being supported by the audience but still cultivating and trying her best to reach the prestigious crown of Miss Grand International has inspired many young people. Thuy Tien's 1-year reign also made many people proud when she and her team carried out charity trips to many countries around the world. As Miss Grand International 2021, Thuy Tien earned a "huge" revenue for the organizing committee and is one of the most successful beauty queens at the present time.
After Thuy Tien, Nguyen Le Bao Ngoc also won the crown of Miss Intercontinental 2022. After being crowned, Bao Ngoc regularly participates in community activities, in which she actively inspires activities related to environmental protection.
In the two top contests, Miss World and Miss Universe, although no Vietnamese representative has won the highest position, many Vietnamese beauties have reached the top in these contests. Most recently, we have Miss Ky Duyen surpassing nearly 100 beauties to reach the top 30 finalists. The person holding the highest position among Vietnamese representatives at Miss Universe is Miss H'Hen Nie. The image of a Vietnamese girl with short hair and the famous story and saying: "I can do it, you can do it" has impressed the media around the world.
At Miss World, for many consecutive years, Vietnamese representatives have been in the top 30 and 40. Among them are Lan Khue in the top 11 of Miss World 2015 and Miss Luong Thuy Linh in the top 12 of Miss World 2019.
Contribute to promoting culture
Miss Thuy Tien's brilliant term as Miss Grand International has contributed to promoting the image of Vietnam and its people to international friends.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Bui Hoai Son - Standing Member of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Education, the success of Vietnamese beauties in the international arena is the "cultural ambassador" bringing the image of Vietnam into the world flow.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Bui Hoai Son, we can take advantage of the appeal of beauty contests to promote culture, but we need a methodical and creative strategy.
“First of all, beauty pageants are a great opportunity to introduce traditional costumes such as Ao Dai, ethnic costumes, or designs inspired by Vietnamese cultural heritage. In addition, beauty contestants can become ambassadors to promote culture through community projects. Beauty pageants can also be a bridge to promote Vietnamese cuisine, music and natural landscapes.
More importantly, we need to invest in communication to optimize the spread of the contests. When beauty contests are used intelligently, I fully believe that they will not only be a place to honor beauty but also become a big stage for Vietnamese culture to touch the hearts of the world" - Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hoai Son shared.
