On the evening of November 12, Miss Vietnam 2022 Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy was crowned the highest position at the Miss International 2024 contest, taking place in Tokyo, Japan.
As the host country of Miss International 2024, Japanese press and media reported on the victory of Miss Thanh Thuy.
Many Japanese newspapers and news sites such as Tokyo Shimbun, Tokyo Sports, Chunichi Shimbun, Kobe Shimbun, Oricon, Yahoo Japan, Sankei Shimbun... simultaneously congratulated the Vietnamese representative.
Tokyo Sports reported that Miss International is one of the three largest beauty pageants in the world (along with Miss World and Miss Universe), with the goal of not only showing the beauty of women, but also having the aspiration to contribute to the international community and promote goodwill for world peace.
This year, 71 beauties from all over the world gathered in Japan and Miss Vietnam Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy surpassed the beauties in the Top 5 (Bolivia, Indonesia, Spain, Venezuela) to be crowned Miss International for the 62nd time.
In an interview with PR Times Japan, Thanh Thuy shared: “I am very conscious of my skills, costumes, and self-expression, and have tried my best to become the first person in Vietnamese history to win the crown at this contest. As Miss International 2024, I will continue to strive and consider that my most important goal.
Also, even while in Japan, I could feel the warm support of Vietnamese fans and I was very happy to be able to respond to this support.
The Japanese took great care of us and I was very touched by the Japanese hospitality. I want to bring this culture to my country.”
ABS-CBN of the Philippines quoted Thanh Thuy's statement on the final stage after winning the crown: "I am the first Miss Vietnam to come to Miss International and now I am the first Miss International from Vietnam. Finally, I can prove that I deserve all the love and support from the audience, fans in Vietnam and around the world."
