Tien Nga Temple is located on Le Loi Street, Lach Tray Ward, Ngo Quyen District, Hai Phong. The Russian Tien Temple worships the Grand Duc of Quyen Hoa.
According to information on the Hai Phong City Electronic Information Portal, Ms. Vu Quan is a human god, a resident of Gia Vien village, An Duong district, Kinh Mon prefecture, Hai Duong ancient town. In the campaign to destroy 20,000 infantrymen of Nam Han on the Bach Dang River in the year 938 led by the national hero Ngo Quyen, Mrs. Vu Quan was the female general responsible for taking care of Ngo Quyen's salary.
Along with Vu Quan Quyen Hoa Cong Nhat, the temple also worships Lieu Hanh Cong Nhat and Quan De Nam Hoang Tu.
According to the Hai Phong Electronic Information Portal, Tien Nga Temple is the only place in the North of our country that marks the Duy Tan - Dong Du movement, a large patriotic and revolutionary ideological trend in the early 20th century, initiated and led by soldier Phan Boi Chau. The temple currently has a altar commemorating patriotic soldiers in the Dong Du movement such as: Phan Boi Chau, Tang Bat Ho, Nguyen Thuong Hien, Nguyen Huu Tue - a native of Cam village (Gia Vien)...
With great historical and cultural values, on February 9, 2007, Tien Nga Temple was decided by the People's Committee of Hai Phong City to be ranked as a Historical and Cultural Relic.
Ancient architecture in the heart of the city
Tien Nga Temple has become a spiritual destination to attract tourists, especially on holidays. According to the history of Hai Phong Party Committee, Tien Nga Temple has been restored and embellished many times but still retains the architecture of the nail style, has the bottom of the harem and 3 gates of the altar parallel to a shaft from the outer layer. In the premises of the temple, there is an ancient tree of birth trees about 150 years old, exalting the ancient appearance of the temple. According to the elderly, in the past, there were many ancient trees in the temple but so far only ancient trees. In 2015, the Vietnam Association of Nature and Environment Protection recognized the tree of birth in Tien Nga temple campus as a Vietnamese heritage tree.
Every year, local people organize the Russian Tien Nga Temple Festival from July 30 to August 2 of the lunar calendar.
