Speaking at the program, Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee Tran Huu Thuy Giang affirmed that Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day is an opportunity to honor the value of books, affirming the role of reading culture in the sustainable development of society.
According to city leaders, in the coming time, Hue will continue to pay attention to developing reading culture in a synchronous direction, associated with digital transformation, promoting the effectiveness of the library system, grassroots cultural institutions and community bookshelf models.
Hue City leaders also requested levels, sectors, localities, schools and families to join hands in building a healthy reading environment; promote reading promotion activities, diversify forms of access to books, and arouse passion for reading in the community, especially the young generation.
In recent years, Hue has maintained many models of reading culture development such as school bookshelves, community libraries, reading festivals, and book circulation to grassroots levels, contributing to bringing books closer to the people.
