In June 2026, People's Artist Trinh Kim Chi was elected Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association for the term 2026-2031.
This is the first time the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association has a female president. People's Artist Trinh Kim Chi has a career journey with many milestones.
30-year career
Born in 1971, Trinh Kim Chi was widely known to the public when she won the title of 2nd Runner-up of the Miss Vietnam contest in 1994.
In the context that many beauties choose the path of business or short-term entertainment, she decided to pursue art seriously after graduating from Ho Chi Minh City University of Theater and Cinema.
From the late 1990s to the early 2000s, Trinh Kim Chi became a familiar face on the small screen. She participated in many television series loved by audiences such as: Mother-in-law, Dau be duong tran, Sticky rice. Possessing a beautiful appearance and natural acting style, the female artist made her mark through many different roles, from gentle, resilient women to characters with turbulent fates.
However, the theater is the place where Trinh Kim Chi dedicates the most enthusiasm. While many artists have completely switched to television or cinema, she still persistently sticks to the profession in the period when socialized theater faces many difficulties.

In 2015, the female artist founded Trinh Kim Chi Theater. This is considered a bold decision because at that time many private theaters had to narrow down their operations due to financial pressure and reduced audience. Not only acting, she also took on the roles of director, producer and manager.
Under the management of Trinh Kim Chi, many plays are invested methodically, and at the same time create opportunities for young actors to try their hand. The female artist also actively participates in charity activities, supports colleagues in difficult circumstances and accompanies many community programs.
Formerly held the position of Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association for many years
It is noteworthy that despite having a certain position in the profession, Trinh Kim Chi still constantly studies to improve her expertise. In 2024, she completed her master's program in stage art. Continuing to pursue the academic path at the age of over 50 shows the spirit of progress and seriousness with the profession of the female artist.
With her contributions to performing arts, she was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist before being awarded the title of People's Artist in 2023. This is recognition for her persistent artistic work for many decades.
Before becoming Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association, Trinh Kim Chi used to hold the position of Vice Chairman of the Association for the 2020-2025 term, actively participating in activities to connect artists and promote the city's theater life.
