On May 23, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union announced that it had issued a Decision on revoking the title of Outstanding Young Faces of Vietnam in 2021 from Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien, Miss Grand International in 2021.
The reason for revoking the title was determined to be that Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien had committed serious violations of the law, to the extent that she was prosecuted. Currently, Thuy Tien has been temporarily detained along with two other defendants to serve the investigation.
Previously, Thuy Tien was known as the beauty who was crowned Miss Grand International 2021 and was one of 10 individuals awarded the title of Outstanding Young Faces of Vietnam in the same year, selected and honored by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
However, according to Article 9 of the Regulations on the Award for Outstanding Vietnamese Young Faces (issued with Decision No. 1429-QD/TWDTN-BTG dated November 23, 2021), cases where honored people have committed serious violations within 5 years from the date of receipt of the award will be considered forfeiture of their titles.
This will be proposed by the Standing Committee of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Young Talent Support Fund and submitted to the Central Secretariat for decision.
The disclosure of the decision to revoke the title on mass media is also clearly stated in the regulations to ensure transparency and strictness in the selection and honoring of outstanding individuals.
Thus, after more than three years since being honored, the title of Outstanding Young Vietnamese Face of Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien was officially revoked for the reason of violating the law to the extent of being prosecuted.
On the evening of May 19, the Investigation Police Agency, Ministry of Public Security prosecuted Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien for the crime of "Flying customers" related to Kera vegetable candy products.
In addition to Miss Thuy Tien, 4 others were also prosecuted after the Ministry of Public Security's investigation expanded the case of food counterfeit goods and defrauded customers related to Asia Life Joint Stock Company and Chi Em rot Group Joint Stock Company.
