V and BTS Jungkook do not accept an agreement in defamation lawsuit

BigHit Music and BTS members V and Jungkook did not accept the agreement with YouTube channel operator Sojang (A) in the defamation lawsuit.

According to Korean media reports on July 22, the No. 1 Advisory Department of the Seoul Western District Court held a mediation session for the appeal in the damages lawsuit filed by V, Jungkook and BigHit Music last March against YouTube channel operator Sojang (called A). However, the parties could not reach an agreement, leading to an inability to arrange, which means that the appeal hearing will continue.

Previously, A posted at least 23 videos on the YouTube channel Sojang (now deleted), targeting many celebrities and influencers with defaming or insulting content. A is currently facing both civil and criminal proceedings for defamation and insult.

In March 2023, BigHit Music filed a lawsuit to compensate A for 90 million won (about $65,000). On February 14, 2025, the court ordered A to pay 51 million won to BigHit Music, 10 million won to V, 15 million won to Jungkook and additional interest.

However, both sides appealed the verdict and the lawsuit continued.
