HCMC - On September 16, the Vietnam Writers Association organized a "Seminar to summarize Vietnamese literature after 1975 - appearance, orientation and genre".

The workshop was attended by Mr. Nguyen Quang Thieu - Chairman of the Vietnam Writers' Association, Writer Bich Ngan - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Writers' Association...

According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Thieu, the Vietnam Writers' Association has gone through many difficulties and challenges, but poets and writers still strive to produce many meaningful works.

50 years of literature

Over the past half century, the literature of the team of writers living in Ho Chi Minh City has accompanied the development of the city and the whole country, leaving many unique impressions in many genres: Short stories, novels, prose, children's literature and scripts.

Since 1975, Ho Chi Minh City press has become a land of literature, creating conditions for many writers to affirm their names. The short story has developed strongly, reflecting social changes, daily life, personal and community aspirations. Many authors have grown from newspapers and become recognized names on the autumn Front.

If short stories are the first step, then novels expand the scope of creation, delving into the world of the inner human being.

In addition, the signboards and ghost stories also left a strong impression, truly reflecting the sacrifices and commitments in war and national construction. Children's literature has developed vibrantly, with many authors attached to young readers, in which Nguyen Nhat Anh is a typical face when continuously achieving publishing records.

Not stopping at the page, Ho Chi Minh City's daily news is also present on screen and stage.

Over the past half century, Ho Chi Minh City's literature has formed a rich appearance, reflecting the reality of many aspects, from war to peace, from individuals to communities.

50 years of Vietnamese poetry

Few places have a diverse composition team like Ho Chi Minh City. In addition to poets returning from the war zone or attached to the urban struggle movement before 1975, many generations who matured after the country's reunification contributed to creating the appearance of the city's song contest. From Pham Sy Sau, Bui Chi Vinh, Do Trung Quan to young authors such as Ly Hoang Ly, Nguyen Phong Viet...

Ho Chi Minh City poetry has many nuances from historical poems, war songs to poems reflecting daily life, the hardships of workers, or romantic lyrical lines about love and personal identity.

Continuing the spirit of exploration of the New Poetry movement and the Tang Tao group, in recent years, Ho Chi Minh City has appeared a 1-2-3 poetry collection with a concise structure with 6 sentences according to its own rules.

Although there was a period when poetry was taken lightly, Ho Chi Minh City still witnessed many phenomena of record publishing, such as Nguyen Phong Viet or Nguyen Thien Ngan's poetry selling tens of thousands of copies.

Over the past half century, from poems expressing the need for war to new explorations of 1-2-3 poetry, Ho Chi Minh City has proven its position as an "open trio", diverse, creative and constantly moving.

Speaking at the Workshop " Basic achievements of Vietnamese literature after 1975 - appearance, orientation and genre", writer Nguyen Binh Phuong said that over the past 50 years, our country's literature has fully reflected the complex changes of society. From the inspiration of post-war epics, literature has gradually shifted to directly reflecting the hot issues of life, affirming its role as criticism and the right to creative freedom.

According to him, innovation has untied artistic thinking, paving the way for diversity in orientation and handwriting. Vietnamese literature is like a "multi- genre forest", which needs to be evaluated according to each genre, author, and work.

He also frankly acknowledged the limitations of not having many truly stately works, not commensurate with the times. This summary is not to put an end to the past, but to continue and create momentum for a more professional and quality development journey in the future.
