The project to build an underpass on the Ring Road 2.5 through the Kim Dong - Giai Phong intersection (Hoang Mai district, Hanoi) started construction in October 2022.
The total tunnel length and the path is 890m in the direction of Ring Road 2.5, of which 140m long, open tunnel is 320m long. The section through the tunnel 2 lanes is 3.5m wide/lane, the tunnel is 3 lanes in each direction of 3.5m wide/lane.
The underpass project has a total investment of 778 billion VND, invested by the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board.
This is the 5th underpass in the capital built from 2009 to present, after the Kim Lien, Trung Hoa, Thanh Xuan, and Le Van Luong tunnels.
According to Lao Dong on May 25, after more than 2.5 years of construction, the underpass of Ring Road 2.5 through the Giai Phong - Kim Dong intersection has now revealed its shape.
The main item is the closed tunnel (underpass through the intersection) more than 50% of the tunnel sections have been completed.
A representative of the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board said that the project including the road leading up and down the tunnel, the closed tunnel sections and the open tunnel on the Dinh Cong side with symbols from U1A to U19A have been basically completed.
The investor said that the tunnel sections will be completed in the second quarter of 2025, after which the project will move through the tunnel completion stage, connecting road system, painting lines, lighting, traffic organization, etc.
Reporting to the Hanoi People's Committee, the investor's representative said that the project has completed more than 70% of the work and is ensuring the set plan. It is expected that in the fourth quarter of 2025, the project will be completed.
When completed, the underpass is expected to solve the congestion between Ring Road 2.5 and Giai Phong Road, gradually completing Ring Road 2.5 according to the city's plan.
